Party Lemonade

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2005
I only had one lemon but was dying for some fresh lemonade and this was perfect. I wasn't so sure at first about the lemon-mashing but it turned out very well. I didn't leave the pulp in when I drank it- was I supposed to? Oh well. I added a little extra sugar and water and this is the best lemonade I have ever had.

Mom's Applesauce Pancakes

Reviewed: May 8, 2005
These were incredible-I made them for my mother and family on Mother's Day, did a double batch (which turned out to make about 14 rather than 8) and everyone had more than they had planned. At the end everyone was stuffed because these were sooo amazing! In the batch I used egg substitute, added about 1/4 cup of sugar, and extra cinnamon. They were just delicious. I will be making these again for sure, very soon. Do try!

Shabbat Challah

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2005
This bread was really good. I was a little worried when it first came out of the oven because it looked nothing like challah. But as soon as everyone started eating it they loved it-my family of 5 people devoured about 1/5 of this recipe. It was awesome-would recommend.

The Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
SO easy! I was skeptical due to the short list of ingredients, but I'm so glad I gave it a shot! The only thing I should mention is that I felt like I had enough batter for two loaves, and so I separated the batter into two pans, and it was the right decision to make. Delicious! ** Made these a second time, several years later, and added a little bit of applesauce (didn't have enough bananas) and a little bit of peanut butter (for flavor and protein). I also used less than half a cup of sugar, they were still plenty sweet. They came out WONDERFULLY.

Cinnamon Bread Delight

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
This was great. It tasted similar to the Cooking Light zucchini brad recipe, but better. I love cinnamon, and I became addicted to this bread. It's great with a nice warm cup of coffee.

Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2005
This cake is FANTASTIC. I got sick of dicing apples so I decided to do a half recipe but now I regret it because it all disappeared so fast. I added a lot of extra cinnamon because that's just personally how I like it, and it was great. This is going into the recipe box. I LOVE YOU JUDY!!!

MMMMMMMM!!!!!!! I love this!!! I tweaked it a little to suit my low-fat likings. I made this recipe with 1 cup frozen lowfat yogurt and 1/2 cup of lowfat milk, plus the vanilla, coffee, and cocoa. IT was amazing!!! THANKS A MILLION PINKY!

Mom's Raisin Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
These were pretty good. Not outstanding, never stop eating, no other recipe great, but they were pretty good. But for only 100 calories and 3.5 grams of fat, they were very tasty. I used egg substitute instead of egg, and baking raisins ( more moist) and these were delicious. Beware, after just a small amount of time in the oven they look very done, but they're not. They've just turned color, but they're not burnt. Even better, these cookies slid right off the cookie sheet, and the cleanup was quite easy. Overall, good recipe. I would recommend it if you're looking for a fairly quick, easy recipe that tastes good and is pretty health-conscious.

Oatmeal Gems

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2005
Not bad! Used applesauce for shortening, egg sub + egg whites for eggs, omitted pecans. Compared to other cookie recipes I've tried, this one was a lot of hassle for a taste that was good, but not great. I didn't have any ground cloves, so I had to mash whole cloves myself. I only used about 1/2 tsp of cloves, and I personally thought they were a little overpowering. I think the raisin juice was a good idea, and improved the flavor. I think the next time I make oatmeal raisin cookies I'll use part of this recipe and part of another. If you have time and you don't mind cleaning up the kitchen, and you liek chewy, sweet-spicy cookies, then these are definitely for you.

Orange Sponge Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
I was a bit disappointed by this recipe. Eating the remains of the batter in the bowl, I was pleased and looked forward to a delicious cake. I doubled the recipe so I would have a layer cake. At 40 minutes, it look more than done but since it said 50-60 minutes I left it in until 50 when I decided that it could not stay in any longer. They seemed dry when I pulled them out, so I frosted the top, put fresh orange slices on, and as one previous critic had mentioned, created a drizzle and put that on. It was good, but definitely could have been removed from the oven at 40 minutes. It was yummy with the frosting, drizzle, and fresh orange slices. Wasn't bad for low fat. Thanks Jackie!
