Can't Tell They're Low-fat Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2005
OK, these were all right. At first I thought they were really good but they got all moldy and watery after only a few days. Very mushy.

Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2005
This cake is FANTASTIC. I got sick of dicing apples so I decided to do a half recipe but now I regret it because it all disappeared so fast. I added a lot of extra cinnamon because that's just personally how I like it, and it was great. This is going into the recipe box. I LOVE YOU JUDY!!!

Crazy Cookie Calzones

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2005
This recipe DOES NOT WORK! It's like there is a missing step or ingredient, because there is no way that it is like dough, it's more like oat soup. I couldn't shape this or turn them into calzones at all. It was impossible. KT, I'm sorry, but they really were not good. In the end, I just plopped wet blobs of them onto a cookie sheet and put jam on top. Not good at all.

Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
These were interesting. The dough wasn't easy to cut and so the rolls lost their "roll" look a little, but it's how they taste not how they look. After fifteen minutes I took them out and they were way too mushy, so I cut between them and put them back in for a little while longer, and they were fine. Just make SURE you use confectioners sugar and not regular sugar because like me, you will have made a big mistake. ;)

Mom's Raisin Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
These were pretty good. Not outstanding, never stop eating, no other recipe great, but they were pretty good. But for only 100 calories and 3.5 grams of fat, they were very tasty. I used egg substitute instead of egg, and baking raisins ( more moist) and these were delicious. Beware, after just a small amount of time in the oven they look very done, but they're not. They've just turned color, but they're not burnt. Even better, these cookies slid right off the cookie sheet, and the cleanup was quite easy. Overall, good recipe. I would recommend it if you're looking for a fairly quick, easy recipe that tastes good and is pretty health-conscious.

Cinnamon Bread Delight

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
This was great. It tasted similar to the Cooking Light zucchini brad recipe, but better. I love cinnamon, and I became addicted to this bread. It's great with a nice warm cup of coffee.

Peanut Butter Cookies VI

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
The reason this recipe was not spectacular was my own fault. We have no peanut butter in my house because my sister is allergic, so we used soy nut butter and they were simply disgusting. Next time, I'll try this recipe with real peanut butter.

Mock Macaroons

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
These were not that good. I had to make food for my social studies class, and everyone went for the sugar cookies and not one person went for these. They were okay, but only because they had a good amount of sugar in them. I wouldn't make these again.

Banana Anna

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2005
This recipe was pretty good. I love banana, and I was looking for a good, healthy smoothie. This almost met my expectations. It wasn't cold enough and it tasted a little funny because it was a tad warm. A few ice cubes solved this problem. I am also not a very big fan of nutmeg, and so after it was done I added some cinnamon to override the nutmeg. The aftertaste wasn't great. I used maple syrup instead of the honey. Will try again, differently.

Wentelteefjes

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2005
Hmmmmmm......these were interesting. Whipped up the batch, looked ok. Dunked the bread in it, plopped it on the griddle, seemed fine. Added a little cinnamon decoration, no problems yet. About eight minutes later, after I had done some flipping and rearranging, they began to burn. My stove has "lo 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 hi" settings and I had it on 7. By the time I had made the last piece I had switched it down to 3. Watch these do not leave them alone they get very messed up! It probably depends on the stove but we needed low medium heat. These were funny- not sure I'll make them again. Big French toast fan-but not really of these.

Shabbat Challah

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2005
This bread was really good. I was a little worried when it first came out of the oven because it looked nothing like challah. But as soon as everyone started eating it they loved it-my family of 5 people devoured about 1/5 of this recipe. It was awesome-would recommend.

Cassie's Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2005
I did a half recipe, which called for 1 cup of zucchini. I was a little short, so I added a little applesauce, and also substituted applesauce for the oil, which made it healthier. I used substitute for the egg as well. I messed up this recipe so much that it's hardly the same anymore. My friends said they liked it, but I don't know. These weren't much like brownies as they were like mushy fudge-ish stuff. They were all right.

Mom's Applesauce Pancakes

Reviewed: May 8, 2005
These were incredible-I made them for my mother and family on Mother's Day, did a double batch (which turned out to make about 14 rather than 8) and everyone had more than they had planned. At the end everyone was stuffed because these were sooo amazing! In the batch I used egg substitute, added about 1/4 cup of sugar, and extra cinnamon. They were just delicious. I will be making these again for sure, very soon. Do try!

Party Lemonade

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2005
I only had one lemon but was dying for some fresh lemonade and this was perfect. I wasn't so sure at first about the lemon-mashing but it turned out very well. I didn't leave the pulp in when I drank it- was I supposed to? Oh well. I added a little extra sugar and water and this is the best lemonade I have ever had.

Orange Sponge Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
I was a bit disappointed by this recipe. Eating the remains of the batter in the bowl, I was pleased and looked forward to a delicious cake. I doubled the recipe so I would have a layer cake. At 40 minutes, it look more than done but since it said 50-60 minutes I left it in until 50 when I decided that it could not stay in any longer. They seemed dry when I pulled them out, so I frosted the top, put fresh orange slices on, and as one previous critic had mentioned, created a drizzle and put that on. It was good, but definitely could have been removed from the oven at 40 minutes. It was yummy with the frosting, drizzle, and fresh orange slices. Wasn't bad for low fat. Thanks Jackie!
