About this Cook
We "retired" to Arizona from Indiana in 2006, but I am still working. I have always loved the challenge of preparing delicious meals even after coming home from work!
My favorite things to cook
My father's side of the family came from Italy so I love to cook Italian food. And though my mother wasn't Italian, she loved to cook, so she embraced Italian cooking early in their marriage. I also like to try to make other ethnic cuisine recipes. I also love to bake - I try different new recipes on my family all the time and they don't seem to mind at all!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Linguine with clam sauce for Christmas Eve dinner!
My cooking triumphs
At church people always comment that they love it when it is my turn to do coffee hour after church because the items I bring to eat (as I said I love to bake!) I am also asked to make the German potato salad for our Oktoberfest every year (did I say I was Italian?)
My cooking tragedies
After over 40 years of cooking, I am sure i have had a few, but I must have blocked them out!!!

Lemon Zucchini Bread
I was a bit disappointed after reading the reviews. I thought the lemon actually detracted from the overall taste of the zucchini bread. The texture was very good and moist, though.

Chef John's Blueberry Muffins
These were okay but not exceptional - the consistency was less like a muffin and more like a cupcake. The taste was good and we enjoyed the extra blueberries but I probably won't make this recipe again.

Peanut Butter Bars I
These were excellent! I followed the recipe with NO VARIATIONS the first time I made it. They definitely have to be completely chilled when cut into squares. I cut the batch at all at one time, then used a pancake turner to carefully lift them out of the pan. I am getting ready to make them again and will use a small amount of pan spray on the bottom of the pan this time. Enjoy!
