About this Cook
Hav quit working outside the home. I now watch Grandchildren & pets so Mothers can work. Live in South due to retired military husband. Dearly miss the fall leaves but not the winter snow. When I have cool weather try to crochet for charity, have done some blankets for LINUS
My favorite things to cook
Holiday dinners, but I'm reaching the point where I wish the menu was not"set in stone"
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies where everyone has a chore & you can do many types at a time.
My cooking triumphs
I make great piecrusts which is ironic because my children only want the insides of the pie. At school bakesales my pies & fudge soldout first but now I'm Grandma and demoted to cupcakes.
My cooking tragedies
I can't make yeast bread, could "shellac" my loaves & use them as doorstops. My Mother& Sister are fab at bread baking & my GD loves to do the mixing she's not quite big enough to knead it all, they make BIG batches. My daughter loves her breadmachine.

Barbie Doll Cake
Instructions for making a Barbie cake were in our local paper. The article suggested making the bowl, then a second cake mix was used to make 2-9" layers. Stacking these made the cake tall enough for the doll.

Wave Your Flag Cake
The recipe on the cool whip site now has a cream cheese layer. If you decide to use that double the amount it suggests. My family said it got lost between the jello laye & the cool whip layer. Made this using suga free everything & a low sugar cake mix still turned out GREAT!!!
