About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Cookies glore. There is no such thing as a single recipe in my house!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My great-great-great-great grandmothers Belgian waffles every Christmas morning. Hot off the press and covered in her secret recipe custard, fresh whipped cream and juicy strawberries.
My cooking triumphs
A three tiered "Mad Hatter" cake for my parents' 50th birthday, a four tiered cake for my sister's wedding - the cake she never knew she always wanted!
My cooking tragedies
A recipe for "100 Good Cookies" that turned out to be 67 really bad cookies.

Buttery Soft Pretzels
Tried these for the first time this weekend - WOW! My family loved them. They're the best fresh out of the oven with butter, but still good warmed up the next day. Next time I think I'll try some sweet ones!

Pizza Dough I
I rarely use this recipe to actually make pizza, but it makes fabulous pizza bread. Often, I add herbs to the dough when I am kneeding it. Once it is spread out on the pan, I'll add herb oil and then sprinkle it with parmesean and feta. Hot out of the oven, it's amazing and my family loves it!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
Wow. This was my first attempt at cornbread and I don't think I'll ever need to look for another recipe. I made it exactly as is, only doubled the recipe and added some bacon drippings that just happened be sitting on my stove from the day before. Just tasted my first bite warm from the oven with some butter on it... mmm... It's supposed to be for our BBQ dinner tomorrow, but I think I may have to make a second batch before then. It's too good to just let sit!
