Black Forest Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
Very yummy cake, I actually used chocolate milk instead of white milk. Didn't seem to make a difference. Everyone enjoyed the cake. I didn't use the pitted sour cherries. I just used the canned cherry filling and that worked out perfectly. The taste was perfect. I just over baked the cake. Definitely using this recipe again, everyone enjoyed it and loved the presentation.

Chicken Tortilla Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
A very tasty soup. A little kick from the cayenne pepper but I like it. The only changes I made were, I didn't have cilantro, plus my fiance doesn't like it. I also added some corn and some black beans, and used dark meat instead of breasts. Other than that, I followed the seasonings that the recipe called for. Very yummy especially on a cold fall day in Ohio! Thank you!

Black Bean and Couscous Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
I never had couscous until I tried this recipe. It is a great side dish when we make Jerk Chicken. I do put a bit less green onions but otherwise I put everything in the recipe. Love it cold and warm!! Excellent.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2009
I love this pasta dish! It has great flavor. I modified it just a bit as I didn't have any mushrooms in the house. I added an extra .5 teaspoon of the cajun seasoning to the chicken thighs, as well as used fresh garlic over powder. I did not have lemon pepper so I just omitted that. My fiance loves it too. Definitely a keeper! Thanks!

Spice Balls

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
These were pretty good. I wasn't too thrilled with the spice portion of this donut but I would like to do it next time without spice and just have a plain donut with sugar and cinnamon on the outside. It was very fluffy and light. I used my ice cream scoop and then pushed it into the hot oil with a spoon. They came out nice and round. Thanks for sharing.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
This is some of the best chili I have ever tasted and made. It has a very good taste and is a little spicy but in a good way. The only change that we made was we roasted/smoked 2 poblano chilis and replaced those with the chilis specified in the recipe. Otherwise, we used the exact spices etc in the recipe. It was very good and great consistency. I will definitely use this as my chili recipe.

Pumpkin Cheesecake in a Gingersnap Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
I just made this cheesecake today and I must say that everyone loved it. The taste of the pumpkin cheesecake was excellent. I thought it was a perfect blend of spices for my taste. These are the only things I changed. I only had 2/5 cup pure maple syrup and didn't have any heavy cream on hand so I just used half and half. It definitely took 90 minutes even though it was cracked but when it sat for the 1/2 hour, everything settled nicely. Definitely very good especially with a dollop of cool whip. Will definitely make again! Thanks!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2008
This was the best zucchini bread ever. I did as others specified and did 1/2 white sugar and 1/2 brown sugar. I didn't measure the amount of zucchini I put in the recipe. I had three good sized zucchini and just used all that. I didn't think it was too sweet with the modification and didn't feel it was too heavy for me. It is definitely very scrumptious. I will definitely use this again as we are growing zucchini in our garden.

Chocolate Cakes with Liquid Centers

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2008
This was perfect ending to my Valentine's Day dinner for my fiance. The only thing I probably did wrong was over cook it a bit where the center wasn't that liquidy. But it didn't really matter because it was yummy and delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. It wasn't too sweet and the consistency was perfect even if there was no liquid center for us. Will definitely make these again as I always have these ingredients in the house!

Chicken and Dumplings III

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
Loved the taste of this recipe. It ended up being a little more watery than I think it was supposed to be. I would say that I ended up making chicken and dumpling soup. It was very tasty and would probably use a different biscuit to drop in. I only had crescent rolls. My fiance and I have never had chicken and dumplings so we weren't sure of the consistency was right or not. But the taste was definitely very good. Definitely making this again!

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
Made this for my superbowl party and it was a hit. I used Chicken Taco mix as that's all I had. I didn't use the lettuce because I was afraid it would get soggy. I also used a can tomato with jalepeno. Will definitely make again, maybe next time with guacamole.

Easy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2008
I just made this recipe this morning. It was good. I would agree that it is a little sweet even for me. But it is a good recipe as I like the light and fluffiness of the pancake itself. Would definitely use again, but maybe with a little less sugar. I did substitute 2 tbs of butter for the oil.

Classic Waffles

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
This recipe is awesome. I usually don't have the ready made stuff in the house because being the only one who likes pancakes or waffles, it isn't worth it. But I wanted waffles this morning and found this recipe. Boy, am I glad I did. This is a great recipe and will keep forever!! Great taste and came out well in the waffle maker.

Crescent Chicken Bundles

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
Oh my gosh, these are wonderful!! My boyfriend loved them! I didn't have chives so I used a small amount of green onions instead. I did use the filling for only four bundles and it was very good and yummy. Will definitely make again! Thanks for sharing!

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2007
I didn't think I would like these cookies just because I am not a cranberry fan. My niece wanted me to bake these so I found this recipe and tried it the other day. Let's just say that this cookie and recipe will be in my repetoire from now on. And I would say that this is my new second best favorite cookie. The taste is very good and the combo of the white chocolate and the cranberry is excellent. Will definitely make time and time again. Did not use brandy in my recipe as I do not like alcohol and substituted it for vanilla. Otherwise I followed the instructions to a T. Great and thanks for sharing.

Barbecued Korean Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2007
I made these the first time a couple of weeks ago as specified. Putting them on the bbq for about 15 minutes. Unfortunately, they were so tough we couldn't really eat them. What I did get to taste, I thought was very excellent. I just made them again tonight with the same marinade but this time I cooked them low and slow in the crock pot. They did get very tender then we threw them on the bbq for a few minutes and then brushed them with the marinade. These were good this way but still didn't replicate the taste from the original recipe. Still looking for the right way to cook them with the taste from this recipe but not so tough. The taste is excellent but the cooking method doesn't work for me.

Slow Cooker Split Pea Sausage Soup

Reviewed: May 7, 2007
Made this recipe without the sausage, put leftover honey baked ham from Easter instead. Substituted the boullion cubes for straight chicken stock. Ended up blending the end result as my boyfriend said it usually is pureed after it's made. The taste was good. I never had split pea before so I don't have anything to compare it to. Nice to just throw it in the crock pot and not have to worry about it.

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw I

Reviewed: May 7, 2007
Everyone loved the cole slaw. I only used half the amount of onions as recommended by other people. I made it about 3 hours before I served it. It did have a pool of juice at the bottom of the dish but no one seemed to complain that the slaw was too soggy. They loved the taste. Would definitely make again.
