Bowties and Broccoli

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
This recipe was pretty bland, but a great base recipe and concept. I added red pepper (like someone suggested), more garlic, and basic Italian seasonings.

Sophie's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2006
This was a very good "base" for zuchinni bread. The flavor was good. Next time I would add a pinch of nutmeg, some carrots, and some raisins to make it extraordinary. Mine was also a little moist, even though I added extra flour, but who knows, I may have had really moist zuchinni. :) Oh, and I made some mini-muffins with the left over dough ~ Yum.

Fried Tempeh

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2005
This was the first time I had tried/cooked tempeh, and this was a very pleasant surprise. This recipe is simple and delicious. I cut the tempeh into one inch squares and fried them on all sides. The result was "tempeh tots!" We dipped them in soy sauce, ketchup, and marinara. Great recipe, thanks!

Stephan's Broiled Salmon Pesto

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2005
Great recipe! I don't even like salmon, and this was fabulous! The pesto and wine are the perfect compliment to the strong taste of the salmon. Thanks for the submission.

Hummus III

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2005
Very good hummus recipe! This is the best basic hummus I have made so far. Thanks for the recipe! I have a few suggestions just to change it up once in a while: I don't add the toppings and then I add red peppers (spicy) and sometimes one or two tablespoons of white truffle oil. YUM. Try it!

Poppy Seed and Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2005
These were good, but not fabulous. They were good enough to try again with alterations. Next time I would either reduce the oil or use vegan butter instead. Also, I would definitely add something to make them a touch sweeter, maybe just more honey or banana. Finally, I felt as though the recipe called for too many poppy seeds, I would use half that next time. Thanks for the submission, every recipe needs individual tweeking. :)

Jo Jo's Favorite Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2005
The taste of these was very good, but they were pretty dry. I tried again and added vanilla extract and more banana, but they were still a little dry. I think I will try these again with a few alterations because they are simple.

Aunt Blanche's Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2005
These were good, but not great. These are perfect if you want a no thrills and very simple blueberry muffin recipe. I will make these again because they are easy.

Tofu Parmigiana

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2005
Awesome!!! This was fantastic!!! I have only made tofu a few times and it has never turned out very good. I recently became vegetarian and what a great start for me, this is definitely going to be a regular in our house. Even my husband, who doesn't care for tofu, loved it. Thanks for the recipe!

Easy Hummus

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2005
Great recipe. This was the first time I have made hummus, though I have been buying it for years, and it turned out good. This is very simple and quick recipe, though I don't know that I would serve it to company over store bought, but for my purposes it's great.

Carrots in Dill Butter

Reviewed: May 23, 2005
These were awesome!! We have never liked cooked carrots, but this recipe changed our minds. I don't think I will make cooked carrots any other way again. Very good recipe, and simple too, this is the first time I have used a recipe from this site and not have to alter it in some way. Thanks for the submission!

Indiana-Style Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: May 18, 2005
I liked this, but the grease was a little much. Once I remade it with alterations it was great. Try, instead of cooking raw bacon, starting with the butter and either cooked bacon pieces (but still soft) or packaged bacon bits (the kind that is real bacon and still chewy). This provides enough grease for the flavor, without all of the calories. If you end up short on liquid, just add olive oil.

Danish Cabbage

Reviewed: May 18, 2005
I was a little nervous about the caraway seeds, but it turned out great!! For a new twist try adding some goat cheese into the mix, it really compliments the caraway. Good and very simple recipe, just what we come on here for.

Baked Whole Cauliflower

Reviewed: May 18, 2005
This recipe has potential. I made a few alteration, but otherwise the ingredients were good. The problem was that the topping doesn't penetrate the cauliflower and there is only a little bit of topping per serving. Maybe my cauliflower was too big though. The presentation is awesome!

Best Formula Three-Cheese Fondue

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2005
This was the worst cooking disaster I have ever experienced. I made $50 worth of cheese, for several people, and the whole thing turned into a giant cheese ball. I can't believe anyone would recommend this recipe. I make fondue quite often and I have never ended up with something unuseable and unsaucy. This is poor at best.
