Chocolate Chip Orange Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2003
I've never had zucchini bread before, that I can recall. Perhaps it is a very good recipe for someone who actually knows, and likes, zucchini bread. I found the recipe's ingredients a little bit of an odd combination from the get go, but was feeling adventurous. To me, the bread tasted as weird as the ingredient list looked. Is it a sweet bread? A spice bread? A vegetable bread? It seemed confused as to what it wanted to be. It might be an acquired taste, but I won't be making it again to test that theory.

Christmas Turtles® Candies

Definately not the easiest or best cookie on the tray. The carmel was hard to work with and later became hard enough that I was afraid someone was going to crack a tooth. I ended up keeping them at home to avoid other people sending me dental bills.

French Beef Stew

Excellent stew, though I half the mustard. The first time I made it the dijon overpowered the rest of the flavors. A stick to your ribs kind of meal. Yum!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2002
I've been making these for a while now. They are awesome, fluffy, yummy cookies. Even my boyfriend, the self proclaimed anti-dessert man, scarfs them down.

Chicken and Dumplings II

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2002
Very bland. I added probably close to a dozen bullion cubes and a canned of condensed cream of mushroom soup to get any sort of flavor, and then sprinkled parmasan cheese on top of each serving. It was still a very loose soup, not gravy like at all, not even after adding a can of condensed cream soup. Two thumbs down.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2002
Having been from NYC originally, I was looking for a recipe that really popped. La Bella Ferrara or Junior's type cheesecake. That's not what I got. I only left the heat on for 45 minutes vs. an hour and it was still a little too brown on the edges. I had two very small cracks, even with a water bath, but if the cake wasn't so brown it would have still looked nice. The texture was right on, but the flavor wasn't. Any good cheesecake I've ever had has had a slight twinge of some sort of citrus-like flavor and this lacked it. I'll probably try it again, but the recipe and cooking time will be tweaked a bit.
