Just a college student who gets sick of the typical fare (Pizza, Ramen Noodles, etc) so I try to cook for myself as much as I can. :-)

My favorite family cooking traditions
I was raised Jewish, and I love certain dishes my mom grandma would prepare-- my mom makes the best Challah in the world (ironically enough, since she converted to Judaism from Christianity) and my grandma makes the best homemade chicken matzo ball soup. Yummmmm!
My cooking triumphs
I've never had a dessert fail-- it's the one thing that pleases everybody.
My cooking tragedies
Not too many-- I always stay safe and only use recipes from this site that have at least a 4 star rating!

Plain Egg Less Cake
I am a preschool teacher & have a child w/an egg allergy in my class. We recently decided to make cupcakes for my co-teacher's birthday, so I was in search of a simple, easy (after all, this was cooking with 3 year olds), and most importantly delicious recipe. I was a little bit worried as some reviewers claimed it was obvious that it was egg-free to regular egg eaters. But, as an egg eater & dessert lover, I can honestly say this cake was better than the boxed stuff and just as simple to make! (Changes I made were 1 tbsp. vanilla & 2 tbsp. sugar to make it a touch sweeter. Cooked in cupcake pan for around 25-30 minutes.) So yummy, esp. w/vanilla frosting! Will definitely be making again for my class & for myself!

Fruit Pizza I
I have been making this for years and am finally getting around to publicly giving it the five star review it has always deserved! I have brought this to many events and everyone always raves about how great tastes and looks— and they always refuse to believe me when I insist how easy it is! Instead of spending time making the dough from scratch (I use pre-made as suggested by many) I choose to spend my time on the presentation— neatly arranging circles of varying (colors of) fruit from the inside-out & even sometimes dropping in some food coloring into the frosting. Truly spectacular!
