Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2006
Awesome!! I had a request for cheesecake swirled brownies, but I didn't want to stray from my favorite recipe. With no cream cheese, I made a concoction of pureed 1/4c cottage cheese, 1 egg, 1/2 tsp vanilla, about 1 tbs. flour, and 1/2 of a package of cheesecake pudding. Awesome!!

Chewy Coconut Cookies

Reviewed: May 5, 2006
They're very yummy, but they flatened out once they were cooled. I even chilled them for a long time first, just like I do with regular drop cookies. Maybe I did it wrong? I also added choco-chips to make them even better!

Blueberry Drop Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2006
These were great! I sell cookies and other baked goods to the girls at work, and these sold very well. Because of their almost cake-like consistency, I put homemade vanilla ice cream or blueberry sorbet (depending on who was on a diet or not!) sandwiched in between 2 of them. Awesome!!!

Rich Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2006
Absolutely delish!! It's a great candy bar that's so easy to make! I got a little mixed up with all of the ingredients that needed to be reserved to make different layers. I put the remaining toffee bits on before the final baking, but that didn't matter! The results were still great! The sweetened milk mixes with the crust to create a caramel-ish layer. I had to refer back to the recipe, because I wasn't sure if I had added any caramel and just forgot! I highly recommend this recipe. :)

Blueberry Crumb Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2006
Awesome! I made it exactly as directed, and it came out perfect. It tastes just like blueberry pie! Next time, I'll leave it in the oven a bit longer so it's more golden brown, instead of light brown. It's now a permanent part of my recipe box!! :)

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2006
Absolutely wonderful!!! I used the traditional method, without the bread maker. I dissolved the tbs. sugar (I used brown) in the water, along with the butter. If you use cold butter, just boil the water, and pour it over the butter while stirring. By that time the temp is quickly brought to the ideal temp for adding the yeast. Cover with plastic wrap, and fix the pudding while the yeast foams. I add the egg, pudding mix and milk together and stir. Then, I measure out the flour, adding 4 tsp of vital wheat gluten to all purpose flour, (I had no bread flour). By that time, the yeast is ready for mixing. I add the pudding mixture, mixing well, followed by the flour. I knead the dough until it forms a ball-all done in same bowl. After I remove the ball, I pour a bit of oil in, and replace the dough and roll it in the oil. The rest is pretty self-explanitory. After rising for about 1 hr. I roll out, spread filling, cut, and rise again. I cook for my boyfriend and the mechanics at his shop and they wont stop raving about them! My boyfriend says that it's the only time the ENTIRE SHOP just sits in silence, awing over how good they are!! A++++ recipe! Thanks Miss Alix!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
A moist carrot cake at it's finest. Everyone loves my baking, so I bake upon request for those up to the challenge that they can answer a tid bit of movie trivia. I bet my friend he didn't know the name of, what was later discovered to be, the inferno room from the movie beetlejuice. He didn't know, but I felt bad beating him again at knowing comedy classic details, so I baked this anyway. I highly recommend this one!!!

Garlic Herb Bubble Loaf

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
MADE THIS FOR MY BOYS AT THE HARLEY SHOP AND IT WAS A HUGE HIT! I EVEN MESSED IT UP BY LETTING IT RISE THE SECOND TIME WAY TOO LONG (I DONT USE OR EVEN OWN A BREAD MACHINE)! I FOLLOWED THE RECIPE EXACTLY, BUT NEXT TIME I'LL CUT THE DOUGH IN BIGGER PIECES. OTHERWISE, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE LAST REVIEWER! DEFINITELY GIVE IT A TRY!!

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
I substituted 1/4c of oil with applesauce to make it a bit more "healthy", and everyone who has tried it said it's by far THE BEST carrot cake they've ever had! I plan on submitting it in this year's Barnstable county fair...I'd keep my fingers crossed but by the personal reviews along with my own, I don't think that's necessary!!!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2008
As other reviewers have said, the baking times are a bit off. Also, I substitute some brown sugar for the white, which may be the reason for that(?). The batter makes much more than I thought, and the cooking time takes longer than stated-maybe 1 1/2 hrs, but TOTALLY WORTH IT!! I give myself a pat on the back for very few things, one of them being my baking and cooking capabilities(almost to a point of arrogance!). I sell my baked goodies at work and this, along with "moms zucchini bread", have given me a new regular! She wants 2 loaves of each every week! One to share with others at work and the rest for her and her son. Everyone at work raves about it! Thank you for this recipe!!

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
Awesome! I did as other reviewers did and decreased the flour to about 2 cups and increased the PB to almost 1 cup. I sell my baked goodies for extra cash and these are one of the top sellers! I added toffee bits instead of choco chips. ***My big secret to successful cookies: ALWAYS substitute 1/2 the ammount of butter called for in any recipe with shortening!!*** This makes them lighter and puff up more while still having the richness from the butter. Also, ALWAYS chill dough first to keep from spreading too much!
