About this Cook
I grew up on a farm watching and helping my Mother can veggies and fruit from our 5 acre garden and orchard. I took 10 years for 4-H foods and had my fair share of blue ribbons at the State Fair. I am currently the owner and operator of Garden Rose Photography being the boss allows me to work from home and cook the way I enjoy.
My favorite things to cook
Lasagna, Meatloaf, Down East Main Pumpkin Bread, cookies, candies, and canned recipes.

Easy Lemon Cookies
My daughter entered these into our County's newest 4-H project "Bake with a Mix" We loved the suggestion to add Lemon koolaide mix instead of lemon extract. It seemed very different and special. We also added 2 teaspoons of poppy seeds to the recipie. My daughter won GRAND CHAMPION over all levels in the project. It wowed the judges even the ones that didn't like lemon! This recipie was simple and easy. The winning batch was made complety by her with no assistance by me except putting them in and out of the oven. Great recipie!

Hot Cocoa Mix in a Jar
I have made the traditional hot coocoa mix for the past 3 years for my neighbors for christmas. This year I tried this one and WOW! Oh was it good after I made my changes. It wasn't that good as written. Here are my changes 6 cups powdered milk 1 package of non-instant Chocolate pudding mix 1 cup nestle quick 2/3 cups CHOCOLATE non-dairy creamer 1/3 cup non dairy creamer 1 cup Nestle Special Dark Cocoa Powder (for baking) 1/2 cup confectioners sugar 2/3 cup powdered cinnamon candy 2 tablespoons Corn Starch I took 2/3 a cup of homemade cinnamon candy and powdered it in the food processor and added it along with 1/2 cup of powdered sugar. I used Chocolate Creamer and added an extra 1/2 cup of cocoa. I subtracted 1/2 cup of powdered milk too. I also added 2 tablespoons of corn starch. I sifted everything to make a fine texture and used a whisk in a really big bowl to combine. The pudding mix and the corn starch added the richness that was missing. The neighborhood loves it!

German Apple Cake I
I recieved this recipie for German Apple Cake from a lady from Scottland that lived across the street from me when I was in college in Vincennes. Scottie would make this for every bi-weekly Americian Leigon Carry-In dinner she attended and always saved two pieces for myself and my husband. :) I always thought it was funny that I got a German Apple Cake Recipie from a Scottish woman! Scottie (Agnus) gave me this same recipie when my hubby and I graduated and moved. It is one of my favorites and is is tasty as well as practly fool proof. It seems to be at it's best after is has cooled over night. This is a recipie you simply must try.
