The Best Chocolate Cake You Ever Ate

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2013
The only recipe I'll use from now on! Everyone loved it - the cake is SO moist and the thick icing is almost like fudge. I think a bit less icing sugar and a bit more cocoa for the icing is best, especially if you like a dark chocolate taste rather than a very sweet icing.

Tiered Cheese Slices

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
This is a fantastic make-ahead addition to the appetizer table. Don't change anything! You can make this and leave it uncut in the fridge until you're ready to serve. Very pretty...great mix of flavors.

Garlic Butter Shrimp

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
Simple and delicious. Another reviewer suggested basil and that added a great dimension to the taste - I just threw in some dried sweet basil as that's all I had. And LOTS of pepper. Oh, and I added fresh mushrooms with the garlic. Excellent & super quick.

Best Ever Sausage with Peppers, Onions, and Beer!

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2011
This is really tasty and easy to adapt to whatever is on hand. The sweet taste from the beer complements the spicy sausage. I used no oil for the sausages (they are greasy enough!). It's a quick, easy dinner with things normally on hand.

Aunt Ro's Baked Beans

These are perfect as is. A great meal with Buttery Corn Bread from this site and a salad or corn on the cob.

This is fantastic - moist & delicious. I used a half recipe in an 8 x 8' pan and it worked out great.

Scrambled Egg Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2010
These are yummy but labour intensive so make a big batch and freeze them. Definitely use foil muffin liners or grease LOTS or they will stick. A great idea for the freezer. I think I would have all the ingredients cooked/shredded/chopped the night before to make these for a group in the morning.

Grill Master Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2010
So easy - and made easier in the slow cooker. I threw frozen wings in at noon on high along with the sauces. I added a bit of sugar as it had a teriyaki taste that needed a bit of sweetening (Splenda works, too). They were crisped up in the oven but would be awesome on the BBQ. I didn't use the dipping sauce. These were really tasty and easy.

Southwestern Chicken Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2010
This is a great use of "stuff around the house". Just as good with leftover turkey as chicken. Try it in a round spring-form pan that fits the tortillas you have. Let it sit about 10 minutes after taking it out of the oven, then removes sides and cut into wedges. I cut the recipe to about 2/3 for the spring-form version but you could leave it "as is" and just add another layer or two. Thanks for a great recipe - the hollow legged teens like it too!

Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Quick and easy. Next time I'll use less of the juice of the tomatoes as it was very watery. You can add any veggies to this and it will be good. It needs lots of spicing up - chili powder, pepper, whatever.

Curry Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Simple and tasty. Definitely add ginger and garlic at some point. A bit of apple juice or crushed apples will sweeten it if you like a sweeter pumpkin soup. Keep a can of pumpkin in your pantry and whip up a great soup in minutes.

Quick Cheeseburger Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
This was a good simple recipe which the two teen boys and hubby liked. DH had seconds and took the last portion for lunch. I used refrigerated biscuit dough on the bottom of the pie plate, baked at 350 for 10 minutes then threw in the filling. I would grease the pan next time as biscuit crust stuck a bit. Also added some fresh chopped tomatoes but otherwise stuck to recipe. Very quick & all ingregients usually on hand which makes it a keeper.

Chicken Breasts Stuffed with Perfection

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
This is an awesome recipe! I loved it with fire-roasted red peppers rather than the tomatoes. Didn't have to use toothpicks as the breasts, if pounded thin enough and placed seam side down, stay together well. I used bread crumbs like most others, and drizzled some melted butter over. They were very well received at the dinner party I took them to and I was asked for the recipe.

Baked Ham with Maple Glaze

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
This recipe totally kicked the honey glazed ham recipes out of my recipe box. I'm with Travelerdude though; must substitute Jim Beam for the wine vinegar. We've got the authentic maple syrup straight from trips to Quebec and you've gotta use good quality syrup. This is SO simple and SO tasty - no way to mess it up. THANKS for a great dish.

Creamy Sweet Potato With Ginger Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
I'd probably go 4 1/2 as I needed to work on spices, and definitely didn't use as much ginger/nutmeg/cayenne as called for. However, it gets the full five stars as it's packed with nutrition with low fat. Oh yeah, I just used milk thicked with a bit of cornstarch which I threw in the blender to get the last bits of soup. The instructions were great. Thanks.

Mansaka

Nice mix of flavours - most ingredients are on hand, so it's a good fall-back when there's nothing in the house! Not a quick meal, as the prep takes some time, but worth the results.

This was pretty good. No one went nuts over it but everyone liked it. It really tasted like roast beef with gravy so would be great with mashed potatoes.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2006
This was good, although lots of clean up I forgot to add the ketchup but not sure if it was needed. I used the potato water to mix with Oxo for the broth - the carrot water would add more nutrients. Everyone seemed to like it.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2006
This was really easy and really good. I popped it in the crock pot on high for about 5 hours, then drained it, pulled it, and added a bit of BBQ sauce. It was great - the kids & hubby all liked it (the picky 12-yr-old pronounced it "delicious" - a true review.)
