About this Cook
Cooking is my hobby. I love to try new things in the kitchen and subject my boyfriend to endless taste-tests. I like fresh, healthy cooking (in general), but love butter and sugar filled baking. I figure, if you are going to treat yourself to a dessert it should be the real thing--no substitutes or low cal !
My favorite things to cook
I love asian and Indian cusine. I love the flavours and experience of eating Indian food. Eating should be relaxed and enjoyable and i love that you can scoop up curries with bread and share dishes with friends. I like the fresh fragrant ingredients of asian dishes--especially Thai and japenese cooking--once again, sharing and sampling dishes is key to an all-around enjoyable meal
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a large close-knit italian family. We get togehter almost every sunday to have a big meal. All families contribute and we refer to it as the "sunday eat-athon" we may be italian but we cook dishes of all sorts
My cooking triumphs
I have cooked for several informal dinner parties where i have made everything from scratch--from the bread and dressings, to the pastries. I have an immense respect for professional chefs--what a job it must be!
My cooking tragedies
I took a pathetic pasta dish to a family function once. It was soggy, tasteless and tragic-looking. I think my family ate it out of pity--it must not have damaged my self esteem too much, b/c i kept trying and have much more success now

Donut Muffins
This is such a good recipe. It's easy, bite sized and delicious (these really do taste deep fried) I doubled the recipe, and got about 35 minis ( filled the mini pans to the top) so my only 'complaint' is that they do not yield the amount stated. Everyone's pan size is different. I used the william sonoma min-muffin pan.

Ultimate Maple Snickerdoodles
Luv these! To make them even more special: Make a bowl of maple icing (I make a regular buttercream but add a bit of maple extract and a few tbls of pure maple syrup) then make maple cookie sandwiches by smothering one cookie with icing and toping with another. A decadent fall treat!

Funnel Cakes
YUM! these get rave reviews whenever I make them! I sometimes use a piping bag to pipe batter into oil (a little less messy)
