Spicy Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
SO GOOD! Made it a couple of weeks ago with a turkey meatloaf and I'm making it for Thanksgiving! I think it'll be a nice change from the sweet potato with marchmallows that nobody eats!

Deep Dish Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2007
Flavor was OK; I like mine with more deep chocolate flavor but I was looking for a recipe with cocoa powder instead of melted chocolate (I was out) and this fit the bill. The cooking time is too long! I set the timer for 40 minutes and fortunately looked at 35 because they were already a little overdone. They're OK in a pinch. For those looking for a REALLY fudgy brownie (granted with a little more effort, but if you're going to do it, do it right!) go to Baking with Julia. I have made those and became a legend for it.

These were wonferful; didn't last a day at my house. Added milk chocolate chips and cinnamon; otherwise prepared as the recipe stated. An addition to my recipe box.

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2007
Wow! Add me to the legions of fans for this one! As I was preparing it my kids came running down the stairs due to the wonderful smell and were pleasantly surprised to find their wait was not as long as usual to dig in. They are simply fabulous. A little something for everyone. A definite keeper. Like everyone else, I used less sugar (1 and 1/3 cups sugar and they are still plenty sweet) and cooked a little longer (2+ minutes).

Pumpkin Layer Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
This is fantastic! Can't really taste the pumpkin, but it is delicious and looks very pretty too. I used 1 package neufchatel, next time I'll push it and use it for both packages to cut down a little more on the fat so I can justify eating more!!

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
I made this yesterday and it came out great. Very moist and flavorful. Worth the work!My husband raved, which he never does about roast turkey. It's very close to the recipe from The Perfect Recipe, but with a couple of shortcuts. i made the gravy from the Perfect Recipe and it all came together great. Thanks.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
5 stars for this! Used Ghirardhelli cocoa and it was great! Put a Cool Whip kind of frosting on it so it wasn't too sweet. I baked it in a 13x9 pan and everyone in the family loved it. Thanks.

April's Chicken Fried Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2006
As is, it's 4 stars. It comes out much better if you use steamed jasmine rice (the rice sticks together better). I also added some broccoli and garlic I stir fried. Definitely be a little more generous with the soy sauce. My picky 5 year old loves this.

Apple Walnut Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2006
This was very good; but I baked it at 350 (I've never baked a quick bread at 300)and the baking time was much less than stated - more like 50-55 min. - Oh and I also used 1/2 cup applesauce and modified the oil accordingly. Everybody loved it.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2006
I'm joining the masses who seem to love this recipe. It makes the best pancakes ever. We make a lot and freeze them for during the week. Thanks for the recipe.

Fifteen Minute Chicken Chili

Reviewed: May 26, 2006
I gave it four stars for the idea and potential but prepared as written, it's lacking. I sauteed an onion and then shredded chicken breast from a rotisserie chicken and put it in the pan, then put in chili powder and stirred. Then the tomatoes, beans and corn were added in. I agree with others that it tastes so much better with simmering time. In the end, it was good and we could have a tasty meal during the week.

Mushroom Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 23, 2006
This was only OK; I had high hopes for it, but it was quite bland - even after I did the garlic and wine as recommended by others. Seemed like it was the recipe on the side of the soup can. My husband asked me not to make it again. Sorry.

Lemon Curd Bars

Reviewed: May 23, 2006
These were excellent. I had a jar of lemon curd and didn't know what to do with it; such a nice change from my usual chocolate chip cookies. Didn't do the almonds but the coconut is a must. I used a glass pan - don't forget to butter the pan!

Muesli

Reviewed: May 3, 2006
This is excellent - better than any oatmeal (I like it hot - 90 secs in the microwave w/ some skim milk) and best of all it literally cost $1 to make at the local organic grocery store using the bins. I used almonds instead of walnuts, BTW.

My daughter loves this. I do slice the banana lengthwise because it's a bit much whole.

Secret Kiss Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2005
These are my new favorite cookie. I did find that when I mixed up the dough it needed a little moisture so I added approx 1 tablespoon of milk and it held together really well (I didn't measure, so use your judgment). Anyway, if you like russian teacakes and chocolate you will LOVE this. They will be on my list for Christmas cookies every year!

Baked Lemon Chicken with Mushroom Sauce

This was REALLY good. (The picture on the recipe doesn't do it justice). No alterations to the recipe needed. It is really easy, even on a weeknight. I will definitely make it again.

Chicken Savoy

Yum - So simple and so delicious! I only like white meat so I cut pieces of split breast in half. I only give 5 stars when everybody loves something (which is so rare in my house). Thanks for posting the recipe.
