About this Cook
Good Morning,Afternoon and Good night to everyone! I am full blooded Guamanian born in Guam. I am currently going to school to be a K-6th grade teacher. I am married and do not have kids just yet. I absolutly loveeeeee to cook! I also enjoy having friends over and feeding them from barbecue to Chicken Parmigiana to foods made in my country.
My favorite things to cook
I love to barbeque, whether its chicken, pork ribs or beef, it is all very tasty! I also enjoy cooking Italian very much. My family lived there for four years and truly appreciated their way of life as well as the food. Of course food from my country.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was younger, I stayed in the kitchen sometimes to see what my mother was cooking that smelled so good. She was my hero, she could think of anything to put together that she had in her pantry. I learned alot of family traditions such as the stuffing for Thanksgiving dinner. We made it from scratch a totally different way :)... We also make dishes using soy sauce and vinegar. Those two ingredients are very handy and are often used in some traditional recipes from my island.
My cooking triumphs
When I started cooking, I was not that great. Just like everything in life, try and try again. I am so grateful to my mother for encouraging me to keep trying!
My cooking tragedies
When I first started cooking, I tried to show off to my family that I could make a pot roast as good as my mothers. It took six hours to cook it at 350 degrees. My family insisted on waiting for it to cook and I know they were really hungry (especially my brother). I was so embarassed not only because did it take too long, it was way tooooo salty. They still ate it, I was so ashamed. But that did not stop me, I did not give up! I tried and tried again until finally it only took an hour and a half to make and the flavor was just right.
