Ginger Snaps II

First time making these ginger snaps. They just couldn't be any easier to make and now I can't keep my hands out the cookie jar. This is an excellent recipe. Before I went into the kitchen I read lots of reviews and made three simple changes to the original recipe. I took the advice from reviews and reduced the salt and added the 1/4 tsp of cloves. I did add one additional ingredient, crystalized ginger. I had gone to our natural foods market and bought what would amount to 1/4 cup, after chopping it in the food processor, of ginger. The crystalized ginger gives these cookies the kick that we look for in a ginger snap.

Saucy Apple Pork Chops

Who knew such a simple dish could be so yummy. Since I didn't have applesauce in the house, but had apples, I made the applesauce from scratch - no sugar. My husband raved about the dish, then took leftovers to lunch the next day. Enjoy.

Chicken Dumpling Strips

After a meal of chicken and dumplings at our nearby Cracker Barrel, I came home and decided I was going to learn to make yummy chicken and dumplings at home. I used this recipe for the dumplings. I still use my mom's recipe for the stew. This was, easily, as good as what I had gotten out at C.B. I have learned that they are best when allowed to stew slowly for maybe a bit longer that the 15/20 minutes recommended. After their initial simmer time. I turned off the burner and let the dumplings sit for an additional 15 minutes. They are a hit with our family. hope they are a big hit with your family as well.

Spicy Peach-Glazed Pork Chops

Loved them! I am what you would consider a heat wimp. I was a bit intimidated by the mere mention of Chile paste, but decided to give this recipe a try. While I didn't use the whole 1/2 tsp., I found the bite the paste added to be perfect with the sweet preserves. If you are a spice wimp, like me, you can reduce the chili paste or even kick it up a notch if you prefer your dishes with a kick. You won't be disappointed.

Pumpkin Cranberry Nut Bread

Amazing! After looking at several recipes, this is the one I chose. The combination of pumpkin, orange and tart cranberries was perfect. I shared a slice with a friend and then shared the recipe with her. I plan on including this bread in my holiday gift baskets next year.

London Broil I

Fantastic flavor and so very easy to make. I had never made London Broil before. After trying this recipe, london broil will become a staple in our house. My husband couldn't get enough. I have to admit, I did take the advice of others and cut the soy sauce in half and substituted worcestershire sauce for that half. You won't be disappointed.

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

God Bless Grandma VanDoren. My search is over. This was by far the best white bread recipe I have come across. We made 2 loaves of the white bread and then tried something a little different with the 3rd. We flattened the dough a bit, after the the 1st rising, and spread cooked Italian sausage on it. Then rolled it and shaped it into a loaf. The bread was a hit with our dinner guest. Thank you for sharing this family jewel, we will use it often.

Pizza Dough II

This was a wonderful recipe for pizza. I had given up on finding a recipe that my family would enjoy. But I have to tell you about a mistake we made that made the crust even tastier. When the 1st pizza came out of the oven, my husband slipped the 2nd one in and waited for the 1st to cool enough to cut. After 5 mins. he cut into the 1st pizza only to find that it needed additional time in the oven. So, he switched them out. The 2nd pizza had had just enough oven time to start to rise again. And it continued to rise while we waited for the 1st pizza to cook. By this simple error, we found a lighter, tastier pizza crust on the 2nd. Oh, I also used 1 cup of whole wheat and 5 of bread flour. We will use this pizza dough recipe for years to come.

Clare's Whole Wheat Potato Bread

This is a wonderful recipe. I found it to be ver easy and my family loved it. The texture made it perfect for sandwiches the next day. We shared 1 loaf with a neighbor,who is now asking when I'll be making it again. Definitely recommend trying this one.
