About this Cook
I'm fresh out of highschool (finally) and attending university in the fall. I'm the youngest out of three children and still living with the parents. I love cooking -- it's one of the only things I'm ACTUALLY good at doing! Other interests include makeup artistry and traveling.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that's quick and easy. I don't really like cooking things that are time consuming. Most of the recipes I choose to make from this site usually take me under two years max. I usually cook Asian cuisine or easy vegetarian meals on a daily basis (I hate dealing with meat). I also have a love for baking -- anything from cookies to cheesecake to pumpkin chai cupcakes! Usually I cook for people; just giving people the satisfaction makes me feel like I've done something right.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Family cooking traditions? Always use onion and garlic... always!!!!!
My cooking triumphs
I once made minestrone soup (Jamie's Minestrone from this website) with all these great harvest vegetables. I cooked it in our biggest pot since I doubled the recipe and surprisingly, it was all gone within a day -- by only three people!
My cooking tragedies
Oh boy, there's too many to name! I occasionally have a tendency of overcooking things, especially meat. And I also have a problem with cooking dessert bars -- they NEVER EVER come out right!

Rosemary Shortbread Cookies
Really good. Can't go wrong with shortbread. I did make a few adjustments: used 1 tbsp of fresh rosemary (all I had on-hand), the zest of 1 lemon, and subbed 3/4 of the AP flour with whole wheat. Delish. My manager loved it! Thanks for the recipe.

Chocolate Crinkles II
These were okay. Yes, they were a cinch to make but I think it's seriously lacking something! Definitely needs more chocolate flavour or a kick of espresso. I'd probably add something to enhance the chocolate flavour (ie. chocolate ganache or nutella thumbprint, melted chocolate to the batter, 2 tsps of instant espresso). Good base recipe though with room for improvement.

Fava Bean Salad
Amazingly simple. Will add one more lemon next time. Good way to use up all the random canned favas I have in my basement. Thanks!
