About this Cook
Married stay at home mom with one child (ok so she has fur but she's still my baby!) Love to bake, decorate cakes and grow tomatoes.
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new things and recipes, my favorite changes daily.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother wasn't a cook, she grudgingly made sure we had meals on the table but never enjoyed it, so most of my family cooking traditions are handed down recipes from my 3 grandmothers. One of my most cherished possessions is a cookbook that belonged both to my Nanny and Mother.
My cooking triumphs
My husband and I have mastered the art of smoked ribs.
My cooking tragedies
Wayyy to many to count, in my house when a meal goes horribly wrong it's referred to as "Monday Night Dinner"

Martha's Cornbread Dressing
This is a basic bare bones Southern dressing recipe. Few things to keep in mind, the cornbread (add extra eggs to the cornbread while making) and biscuits need to be cooked a day or two in advance to allow them to stale. I also crumble up stale white bread and sub poultry seasoning for the sage.

Coconut Cream Cake I
Very good but to elevate it I made a few changes. I substituted low fat coconut milk for water, melted room temp unsalted butter for oil. Between the layers I added toasted macadamia nuts along with the coconut and whipped icing. For the frosting I increased the sugar as well as added both vanilla and coconut extracts. This is a very very sweet cake and a small slice goes a long way.

Chicken Pot Pie VIII
Made this tonight and the Husband LOVED IT! I took the advise of others and steamed the carrots and potatoes before adding to the meat mixture, I also used half crisco half butter in the crust. This is now going to be a regular at our house.
