Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
We really enjoyed this dish, the pecans gave it a very nice crunch. Good flavor but I think I will marinade the fish in the sauce for an hour before cooking as others have suggested to get more flavor. It was very easy and quick to make, just the type of recipe that I like! Initially I thought that it was too much topping but after baking, we ended up scraping the topping that drifted off the salmon during baking. Yummy dish!

Ground Beef N Rice Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
I used ground turkey and as suggested I browned it first. I had no oregano but I put a little more Italian seasoning. My family enjoyed it very much and said it's a keeper. The only thing I might change is to use tomato sauce in place of the tomato paste because the paste makes it a bit tart for my taste. This is a simple recipe and everything cooked up really nicely. Thanks for the recipe!

Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2010
I have been making the same wonderful spaghetti recipe for the past 10 years but wanted to try something a little different. I just made this recipe for dinner last night and my family really enjoyed it! Another reviewer commented that her noodles were dry which I don't understand dry because mine was very moist. I think she just didn't use enough sauce. I mistakenly only bought one jar of the 10 oz. sauce then re-read the recipe only to find out that it asked for a 25.75 oz jar. Oops! Sent hubby back to buy another jar. I used 20 ounces and it was enough. I also only had 12 oz of ricotta cheese and I think it was still tasty. Also, I used regular aluminum because I didn't want to pay $7 for a box of non-stick. It worked just fine with some Pam cooking spray I already had. All in all we loved this recipe and can't wait to have the left overs! YUM!

Blueberry Scones

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
As stated earlier, this recipe is on the wet side so I simply spooned them into twelve on two sheets. They turned out perfect and tasted very good. My family really enjoyed them and I will definitely bake them again! I did not think these were too sweet, which is a good thing since my hubby doesn't like stuff that's real sweet.

Easy Blueberries And Cream French Toast Sandwich with Orange Maple Syrup

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
Quick and easy to make and tasty to eat. I don't drink wine so I don't know how much if any of a difference that makes but the "syrup" sauce was good and everyone enjoyed this breakfast. In fact my 12 year old son was disappointed that I only made one "sandwich" for eash person!

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: May 14, 2009
I did not have andouille sausage so I used what I had, which I unfortunately did not add to the flavor. I also omitted the cayenne because we don't like spicy hot. Overall it was a good recipe, my 12 year old especially enjoyed it. I think I'll have to find the andouille or maybe something better than what I used. I will try this again.

Ground Turkey Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
I made this the other night and took the suggestions that a few reviewers made. I added a half an onion, two cloves garlic, oregano and a can of stewed tomatoes as well as the tomato sauce. I like a lot of flavor so I always add garlic & salt in the water to boil my noodles. Low fat cream cheese, sour cream and cheese would definitely be the way to go since doing otherwise would be way too high in fat. My family really enjoyed it and said it was a keeper and of course my rating reflects this recipe with the changes.

Blueberry French Toast

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
The receipe is pretty easy to make but I used French bread because couldn't find Italian. Anyway, it turned out delicious! My son and husband really enjoyed this one and we even got to have left overs the next day too!

Stuffed French Toast II

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
This is a simple recipe and tasty as well. I don't like rasberries so I used Guava jam which is what my family prefers. Everyone enjoyed this breakfast but I think I need to put more jam the next time I make it. The almond extract gave it a nice flavor!

Grilled Portobello Mushrooms

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
I followed the recipe exactly and although my family enjoyed it, we all felt that it was way too salty. I will definitely make this one again but use maybe half the salt. Very yummy dish!

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2008
Since I made a couple of changes I rated the actual recipe a 4. I did not have beef boullion so I used a can of beef broth (that's all I had) and then added a package of onion soup mix and 1-1/2 cups water. My family really enjoyed this one which surprised me because they are used to eating Hawaiian style stew which uses a tomato base with some added ginger. The next time I'll try the recipe as printed.

Bobotie

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
I rated this 4 only because I did make a few changes. I did not use chutney or bay leaves, I used cinnamon instead of tumeric. And I fried everything first, put it in a deep dish, added the "custard" on top and baked it top was golden brown (about 35 minutes). The dish was tasty, my 11 year old really enjoyed it as did me and my husband! This is a delicious addition to my recipe box!

Crispy Mashed Potato Pancake

Prepared recipe as is and it was fine but nothing special. I supposed if I doctored it up as previous posters have I might have liked it better but then I would not really be rating THIS particular recipe.

Mock Filets

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2007
This recipe was easy to make. It tasted more like a meatloaf, that's what my husband and son thought it was when I served it. It tasted fine but nothing I would rave about, just a nice easy meal.

Orzo with Bacon, Mushrooms and Italian Seasonings

Reviewed: May 26, 2006
I just made this and WOW was it delicious! Aside from me adding a pinch too much salt (I forgot that the bacon would salt it up pretty good), my family really enjoyed it and said it's definitely a keeper! This was enough for about 8 servings.

Better Than Sex Cake I

Reviewed: May 15, 2006
Although this is an excellent and very easy cake to make I've rated it 4 stars because it can't be better than Red Velvet! I used only 3/4 of the condensed milk because it just seemed like it would be too sweet with the whole can. I used about 12 oz of hot fudge and only two Skor toffee bars because my mom said she didn't like candy on cake and it WAS for my pot-luck Mother's Day party otherwise I would have prefered 4 bars. Everyone enjoyed it and I will definately make it again, and next time will try it with caramel and all 4 toffee bars!

Apple Butter Pork Loin

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2005
This recipe is so easy to make! I had six 3/4" pork loins so I baked it for a shorter length of time and it came out just perfect. The pork was very tender, I used the juices as a sauce and boy was this delicious! I would have thickened it with corn starch but was too lazy. My husband and 8 yr old son said this recipe is a keeper! Yum!
