Beef and Guinness® Stew

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2014
I've been looking for a good stew recipe for many years and after trying about five or six different recipes from this website alone I was ready to give up. My teenage son has always told me he does like stew but I was determined to find one that we could all enjoy. This one sounded interesting with dark beer in the ingredient so I thought I would try it. I couldn't find Guinness so I purchased another dark beer. One other change was that I used tomato sauce since I had no tomato paste. After cooking the bacon and browning the beef I put everything in a crock pot for six hours on low. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good this stew turned out and my son enjoyed it as well! This will be my go to stew recipe! Yum!

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2014
I had four boneless/skinless thighs but no idea what to to with them. I wanted a quick easy meal with ingredients that I already had at home so luckily I found this recipe. It was tasty and simple to make! The next time I'll try 1/4 cup olive oil and 1/4 cup butter which seems a tad more healthy.

Garlic Mustard Ground Beef

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2013
I generally only try recipes with over 25 ratings with average of 4 - 5 stars. That said, I was in a pinch for dinner and I had a pound of ground beef so thought I'd be brave and try this one. I did add a bit more soy sauce and some salt, plus I added a bit more honey. The flavor is...different...I don't know how else to describe it. Even "doctored" up I thought it was just okay. I put it over orzo. Will not be adding to my recipe box.

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2013
Made this tonight, not only was it easy to make, it was delicious! I used boneless, skinless chicken thighs since that's what I had thawed out. I used sharp cheddar since I had that and whatever cheese mix was left, I put on the top of the chicken before baking. Thirty minutes later, voila! So good!!

Miso Braised Pork

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2013
This dish was so easy to make, I put the pork in a crock pot, mix the other ingredients, poured it in the crock pot. You can use white or yellow miso paste, I had yellow miso on hand so it worked out perfect! Although it was a bit salty we all loved it! I might try it with just a 1/2 cup of miso (we don't have low salt miso) and low sodium soy the next time. I skim off the oil from the top before serving since pork butt is a very fatty cut. I will definitely make this one again! YUM!!

Sauteed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2013
Since I already had mushrooms, I luckily found this recipe to try and it was super simple! I only had a half pound of mushrooms so I used about 3 Tbs of butter and probably a quarter of the package of Ranch dressing which turned out great! I'll be making it again!

Made this for my family recently and it was fairly simple to make and the chops were very tender. I don't think I'll be making it again because we all thought it was just OK.

Portuguese Chicken I

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2013
Made this the other night and it was very good although my hubby said it was to buttery (meaning unhealthy). I used 3/4 c milk & 1/4 c butter as a substitute because I didn't have heavy cream. I also used chicken legs (thighs & drums), very tender. I will make this again but maybe try 1/4 c olive oil instead of butter as another reviewer suggested. Thanks for the recipe!

Pistachio Nut Bundt Cake

I made this for the holidays. Since I didn't have enough walnuts, I put 1/4 cup of pecans. This turned out great, it was SO tasty! I went right out to buy more pistachio pudding so I can make another cake!

Ono Butter Mochi

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
My family LOVES the custard mochi that I normally make, but for the last party I wanted to try butter mochai and couldn't find one in any of my local (Hawaii) cookbooks. (Hard to believe!) Could hardly believe I found it here! I baked this exactly as stated and found that the time was a bit too long. I should have heeded AZURE_PHOENIX's advice to bake only 50 minutes because the mochi was a bit too stiff. It's suppose to be soft and a bit on the sticky side. For those confused about the Mochiko, we use Koda's Mochiko since that's what always goes on sale here. The box states the ingredient as SHORT GRAIN SWEET RICE so I wouldn't use anything that is different from that.

Airport Bob's Green Beans

Very simple and super tasty recipe! I normally just salt and pepper my green beans but wanted something a bit more exciting. My son and hubby both really enjoyed it so much, my son said he normally doesn't like green beans but with this recipe he actually wanted seconds!

Ground Beef Quiche

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2012
I'm not a quiche person but I had ground beef and wanted to try something different. This seemed quick and easy so decided to try it. I followed the recipe with the exception of the mayo and pastry shell. It was very easy to make and my family really enjoyed it very much! It was pretty filling and you can add whatever you enjoy. This will be going into my recipe box! Thank you!

Turkey Picadillo II

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2011
I made this as the recipe directs with one small change, less cayanne because my husband does not like foods that are too spicy hot. My whole family enjoyed this dish on top of burger buns as well as with rice! The flavors are so rich and yummy!

Macadamia Nut Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
Can't get cookies much better than chocolate chips with macadamia nuts. These cookies were delicious. That said, I was puzzled after mixing at how little dough there was. I suppose it might make 36 mini sized cookies which is not much in my book, lol! Wish I read the reviews before making it and I would have realized (from other poster) that you have to double the recipe for regular size cookies. This is a keeper though.
