About this Cook
Actually, I only cook because I have a family to feed...I'd love to have someone cook for us a few times a week! I do love gathering recipes and have lots of cookbooks!
My favorite things to cook
I try to stick to recipes for cooking poultry since my husband prefers it. He grew up on a farm where beef was a daily meal so he's pretty tired of beef.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving at my Aunt and Uncles house. Everyone brings a potluck dish and my Uncle smokes a turkey, yum! Culturally we tend to have a huge variety of main dishes and tons of left overs for the next day as well!
My cooking triumphs
My baking was always a hit when I was single (that was pretty much all I made for pot-lucks!)
My cooking tragedies
First Thanksgiving I made gravy and kept adding and adding corn starch until it looked like a pile of mashed potatoes! UGH! That meant no gravy for our turkey! The following year a friend brought packaged gravy "just in case".

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes
Delicious! Made this for me and teenage son and we both enjoyed it very much! I used blueberries that I had frozen a few weeks ago, no "problems" with the batter turning color. I let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes while I cooked bacon and made coffee, etc. The batter is thick so the pancakes are quite fluffy! Very tasty indeed and will be making this one often!

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken
Since I had all the ingredients I to try something new, I loved it! I doubled the recipe for four breasts but I cut the cayenne and black pepper in half because I can't take the heat. This came out so tasty! My teenage son really enjoyed it as well and the left overs were just as delicious!

Beef and Guinness(R) Stew
I've been looking for a good stew recipe for many years and after trying about five or six different recipes from this website alone I was ready to give up. My teenage son has always told me he does not like stew but I was determined to find one that we could all enjoy. This one sounded interesting with dark beer in the ingredient so I thought I would try it. I couldn't find Guinness so I purchased another dark beer. One other change was that I used tomato sauce since I had no tomato paste. After cooking the bacon and browning the beef I put everything in a crock pot for six hours on low. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good this stew turned out and my son enjoyed it as well! This will be my go to stew recipe! Yum!
