MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2011
I doubled the recipe & used a total of 1/2 cup of butter. I only had 1 pkg. of chocolate chips so used a total of 2 cups of chocolate chips. Since I was short on the chocolate chips I added 1/2 cup cocoa. They are more cakey than fudgey & 100% delicious! YUM!

Oven Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
I used some previously baked potatoes, cubed them & baked as directed. They were delish but on the verge of too herb-y for me & I love herbs.

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
YUM! THIS is my new pumpkin pie! It's beautiful & delicious! My hubby agrees & he's a pumpkin pie aficionado. We loved the filling & the topping! I made it exactly as written.

Restaurant-Style Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
The teenager & I liked it, hubby LOVED it! I used Jenni-o Italian turkey sausage instead of the smoked sausage. The 3 of us ate the whole thing, no leftovers. I wanted to try it tomorrow since others said it was better the next day. I'll make it again.

Chicken Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
3 stars from me, 4 from my famliy. This was tasty, in fact my family liked it A LOT. But if I'm going to slice & dice fresh vegis, roast a chicken & cook wild rice, I do not want to add a CAN of condensed soup to it!

Poppy Seed Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2010
This recipe made 20 muffins, not 12. I decreased the sugar & the oil based on other reviews. I also added 2 drops of yellow food coloring since others said the muffins were "pale". They looked great & tasted good. DEFINITELY use the paper liners for your muffin pan. Otherwise they WILL stick, even if you grease it well.

Chicken Alfredo Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
I've tried several chicken/garlic/alfredo pizza recipes from this site & this is the BEST! Hubby said it was his favorite pizza ever. I made it mostly by the book but used heavy cream instead of milk & I always pre-bake my crust before adding the sauce & toppings. I also added green & red peppers & mushrooms.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
Another 5 star rating! Made this morning & they were soooo good! I only had 2 bananas & added cinnamon & nutmeg to the mix. I greased my muffin pan & they came out beautifully. Make 12 muffins so they don't overflow. Will make these again!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2010
This is my new Sunday dinner! Best chicken ever! Rub the seasonings UNDER the skin and on top & definitely shorten the cook time. Mine was ready in 3 hours but I let it go 3 1/2. It was PERFECT! Moist & delicious. I've made it twice in the past week!

Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2010
I know I'm in the minority but this was just blah. I even doubled the soy sauce, ginger & garlic & it was not very flavorful. It definitely needs a major kick of something. The cornstarch made the chicken stick to my wok pan. It was pretty on the plates though & everyone ate it.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
Can't explain it but it's not 5 star. What's not to love? It's got all my favorite stuff, but wasn't what I expected. I love basil so I don't think that's it. Maybe it's cooking the onions & garlic in the bacon grease. It was good but not great.

Holiday Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
I'm sorry but 3 stars is being generous. I thought it was blah & average & the paprika gave it that strange brownish color of canned tuna. If you make this at least leave out the paprika.

Cranberry Orange Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
YUM! These were soooo good! I used 1 1/3 cup craisins rehydrated overnight in 1/2 to 1 cup fresh squeezed oj. I also used 1 cup pecans instead of walnuts. And instead of the glaze I drizzled with melted white chocolate. I needed them to be firm on top so I could stack & ship them & the hardened white chocolate did the trick. They were beautiful!

Stuffed Shells I

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
YUM! 5 stars for inspiration! I used half ricotta & half cottage cheese, one egg instead of two & fresh garlic. I added ground beef to half of the sauce since dh likes meat. Leftovers were so good & I'm sad it's all gone. I'll be making this one often!

Mini Pumpkin Muffins with Orange Drizzle

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
These were a hit for Sunday brunch. I didn't do the glaze. I just mixed some powdered sugar, cinnamon & a little ground ginger & sifted it over the muffins. They baked nicely & came out of the pan easily.

Fettuccini Carbonara

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
I cut the fat & calories big time--mainly because of the ingredients I had on hand. It was still sooooo good! I only used 1 T olive oil, 1% milk instead of heavy cream, 1/2 lb of bacon instead of a whole pound, & 2 egg yolks instead of 3 (because raw eggs are icky!) I also added some grilled chicken, basil & oregano. This is a GREAT recipe & I'll make it as written as soon as I have all of the ingredients. We all loved it!

Garlic Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
3 stars from me, 4 stars from my hubby. This would have been so much better with homemade sauce. The Ragu Roasted Garlic Parmasan sauce had the consistency of Elmer's Glue! And I did not like the taste of it at all. I will never buy that again. I'm going to try the other Garlic Chicken Pizza recipe & I'm hoping it will hit the spot. The concept & elements of this recipe is GREAT, just need a different sauce.

Berry Crumb Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2008
I used butter instead of shortening for the crust and diced up fresh peaches for the filling. To me they were just ok but my guests enjoyed them served warm with vanilla ice cream. I'd like to try them again with blueberries or raspberries. They did bake up very nicely & sliced & served beautifully. I agree, they need a dusting of powdered sugar or a glaze or maybe some almonds or macadamia nuts in the crust would help. I can't put my finger on it but they missed something in my opinion.

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
LOVED these! Didn't even have to get out my mixer. Just mix with a spoon. They were super easy & delicious. As soon as they came out of the oven I brushed them with melted butter mixed w/ salt, pepper, oregano, shredded parmesan & garlic powder. I've eaten three of them tonight & am so tempted to go for #4! I served them with spaghetti & meatballs.

Enchiladas Suizas

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
Everything came together on this one and they were THE BEST chicken enchiladas I've ever made. Seriously, chicken enchiladas should not have canned soup or cream cheese in them so thanks for posting exactly what I've been looking for! I cooked the chicken in the crockpot seasoned with garlic, cumin & salt. On step 3, I mixed the cream in with the extra salsa verde instead of pouring the cream over the top. DELICIOUS!
