Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2011
I was a bit sceptical with the mix of ingredients but these were soooo good! I made this for a family gathering so made 30 eggs and they were the first thing to go. I noticed many reviewers said they were too salty. I rarely salt per recipe but rather a little at a time and taste as I go so these did not turn out too salty at all. Thanks for a great and easy recipe.

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: May 26, 2011
This recipe tastes so good for being so lean and healthy! Which of course makes me love it even more. The only thing I'd recommend is adding more beans, it didn't seem like enough so I added a can of black beans in addition to the kidney and I did not mash them, just added whole which is the only thing I changed. Just a word of caution though, if you have little ones you may want to cut back on the cayenne just a bit. My 3 year old couldn't eat it due to it being too spicy but it's perfect for us adults. Thanks for a great recipe!

Pizza Casserole

Reviewed: May 10, 2011
Sorry but I found this recipe very bland. It calls for no salt or seasonings of any sort which I thought odd while making it but I left it alone thinking that perhaps the pepperoni and sauce would add the flavor but not at all. I made it exactly per recipe the first time and was very disappointed after all the good ratings. However, I saw the potential so I made it a second time and sauted veggies separately in olive oil and then added salt, pepper, garlic powder to meat mixture, more sauce and cheese. Included cheddar along with mozzarella and it tasted ALOT better but rating the original recipe.

Pineapple Bread

Reviewed: May 4, 2011
This recipe has great potential but has way to much baking powder for my taste, so made it too bitter for me to eat. (Although my husband loved this). I didn't have baking soda on hand so left that out. I'll try this again but with less baking powder.

Gooey Butter Cake I

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
My husband thought this was delicious but I thought it was just good so the 4 stars. It was almost a little to rich for me but if you like that, you will love this. Next time I'll try it with chocolate cake. Brought this to a family gathering and everyone enjoyed it.

Berry Trifle

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2011
Wow!! How simple and yet so delicious! I doubled the recipe and brought it to a family gathering and it was gone in minutes. I made it the night before and took it out of the fridge 2 hours before serving. I used boxed yellow cake instead and really recommend that. I find the cake more flavorable than pound. I used less condensend milk (personal preference)and more milk. I did as others suggested and soaked the berries in some suger for 20 minutes before layering. I did not use liqueur as I didn't have any on hand but it didn't need it anyway because when you layer the berries on top of cake the juices from the berries soak nicely into the cake as it defrosts which made it so yummy. Second time around I made homemade cool whip instead which made it even more fantastic! Really a GREAT recipe that you can easily adjust to suite your taste preference!

Delicious Black Bean Burritos

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
This recipe was good but wasn't excellent. Although, I think it has great potential. TIP: Drain the juices from the can as the recipe states or the texture becomes to mushy/slimy so that was my mistake. I will try this again adding a few of my favorite seasonings to give it a bit more punch. thank you!

Classic Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
This was a very nice recipe - it was absolutely delicious right out of the oven with butter. However, I found that it didn't taste as good the next day. Just a little too bland for my taste. It was also too crumbly but this was my first time making bread so I might have went wrong somewhere. I'll try it again as it's a super easy recipe and has great potential. I think I'll add honey next time! Thanks for the recipe.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2008
This was ok. I did use half and half instead of the cream so not sure if that would make a big difference. I don't think so, I've substitute items like this in other recipes and they still turn out great so this is probably just not to our taste preference. There are different types of Cajun seasonings so maybe that makes a difference but either way will not be making this again. Thanks!

Authentic and Easy Shrimp Curry

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
This is such a delicious and easy recipe! My husband (who is Indian) loved this dish and said it tasted very authentic. In fact, he loved it so much he asked me to make the same curry the following day but with chicken. I did and that was also wonderful! Another reason I love this recipe because shrimp is rather expensive so you can easily substitute this with chicken. We wnjoy it with Paratha's(Indian flat bread). I followed the recipe exactly except omitted the curry leaves but the Garam Masala is a must at the end. The extra flavor after the seasoning makes a big difference in the authentic taste.(in my opinion) Thanks for the wonderful recipe! This will be a regular dish in our home.

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
Wow, this is a fantastic recipe. So very simple and yet delicious! I defintely do NOT recommend reducing the lemon. The pepper and lemon is what makes the dish. (but we love lemon w/our seafood) Once the pasta was in, the flavors blended great and wasn't too strong at all. I did add extra chicken broth and a bit more wine for more liquid and added some mushrooms that I sauted separately and just combined at the end. Thanks for a great recipe. Both my husband and I agree a 5 star for us. Thanks for the recipe!

Beef Samosas

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
Great recipe. Lots of work but worth it! My husband (who is Indian) loved them! I thought they were good but didn't love them as much as he did so that's why the 4 stars. Will not make this often only because it's very time consuming and rather fattening drenched in oil but it will be an occasional treat that my husband will enjoy. Thanks!

Creamy Vegetable Medley

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
Sorry, but this dish is not to our taste. I used cream of broccoli soup instead of the mushroom per the other reviews so perhaps that's where I went wrong. (also reason for the 2 stars vs 1 star) So considering the change I made I did not like this dish. It's edible right out of the oven while warm but not cold and even worse the following day. I'm generally not crazy about dishes that require you to use cream of soups but was hoping this was different since it recieved such great reviews. I made this for Thanksgiving for 20 people and more than half was left so will not make again. Thanks!

Tangy Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
I did not particularly like this recipe. I had halved the liquid because I had only half a cabbage and it wasn't that great...still a bit too much liquid. I felt there was too much soy sauce. I think it might be good with the Balsamic Vinegar and olive oil and just a drizzle of soy but that's probably a personal taste preference. I love raw cabbage and I thought it tasted better raw then this recipe/combination. I might try it again but use less soy and see if that makes a difference for us. Thanks!

Baked Zucchini Chips

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2007
They are very good right from the oven and thought I found a winner but then eating them after they've cooled and/or the next day, well not quite so great. Good way to use up zucchini but I'd say it's one of those recipes you'd need to eat right away while fresh and hot. Thanks

Cheesecake Dessert

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
What a great idea! I didn't have yellow cake so used white instead, it was very good but I think it would be better with the yellow cake (or really any flavor). The white cake and the cheesecake were the same color and the cake's taste didn't particularly stand out so that's why the 4 stars but it was my doing not the recipe. Will defintely make this again but change the cake to yellow or chocolate to bring a bit of adventure to the taste and look. Also, just used rasberry topping from the can. Everyone enjoyed it! Thanks for a great recipe!

Shrimp and Mushroom Linguini with Creamy Cheese Herb Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
This is very good and not a difficult dish to prepare. My husband and I enjoyed this dish very much! To lower the fat content a bit, I used a lighter version of cream cheese. I also added chicken stock instead of the water. Thank you for a good but simple recipe.

Potatoes and Carrots

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2006
This was ok. A bit too bland for me but not bad. My husband ate it but didn't go back for seconds and that's usually a flag for me as he always goes back for seconds if he really enjoys something. Sorry, won't make again....Thanks!

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
This is the best Tuna Casserole recipe I've tasted! Finally a recipe with out those canned soups. My husband loves it also. This recipe calls for basic ingredients so it's a great back-up dish on days I don't have anything defrosted. I do add a few extra seasonings to the cream/milk mixture for extra flavor (garlic, paprika, Johnny's seasoning) for personal taste and I've tried it with various shaped pasta's and always wonderful! Thanks for the great recipe!
