Magic Cookie Bars from EAGLE BRAND®

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
This was way too sweet me, and I like sweet stuff. My 14 year old didn't like them, she said "Maybe there's too many chocolate chips."...Won't be making this one again.

Brown Butter Cookies

Reviewed: May 24, 2009
Didn't love em, didn't hate em. My 14 year old said the frosting was too sweet. My husband asked me after I gave him a couple of these cookies "Are there any peanut butter cookies left from last night?" Recipe was followed exactly, didn't overcook the butter. Sorry, guess this one is not a keeper for my family :(

Mama Corleone's Sausage and Peppers

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
It was good, changes were made though. Cut the sausage into bite sized pieces, Made a nice sized pot, doubled the sausage, added chopped onion, used Italian seasoning to taste. Ended up putting in a can of tomato paste and water(we aren't big fans of olive oil soaked pasta)dash of sugar and cooked everything for a couple of hours. It was a nice change from my regular sauce. Thanks.

Chicken-Fried Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
As written, a mild recipe more for those who cannot tolerate, seasoning, or salt. I added Tony Chachere's seasoning, salt, water mixed with bouillon cube, and fried chopped onions otherwise this would have been too bland for us. Good work day recipe when you don't have time to cook and want a home cooked meal.

Molasses Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
These were great!! I usually don't like spicey type cookies, but these were excellent and had hubby and kids begging for more! I didn't chill the dough, it was easy to handle, and they turned out fine. Using butter flavored shortening adds flavour. I disagree with the reviewers that complained the cookies were too salty, for us the salt complimented the cookie's sweetness and spices. A keeper recipe, thanks!

Butter Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
This was really good and easy to work with, tastey and flakey. Had to add a bit more water, but there really is never any set amount of water you should add. Add water gradually until it's workable.

Peach Pie the Old Fashioned Two Crust Way

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
This was good. I found with all fruit pie recipes you gotta adjust the recipe to the quality of the fruit, depends on how sweet or tart, how ripe and juicy etc. May or may not need lemon juice or extra liquid, more flour etc. I didn't have a problem with the spices being overbearing or it tasting like apple pie, as a couple of reviews mentioned. Maybe it will taste like apple pie to some because of the nutmeg. This could be omitted. Used homemade pie crust. I did brush the inside with egg as described in this recipe, won't be doing that again, the bottom crust seemed a bit gummy, which never happened before. Best to skip that step. I prefer the Peach a Berry pie recipe on this site a bit more, but this one is still good.

Gooey Butter Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
This is SOOO good! My husband called this "excellent" and "EVIL!" which it is, very rich. Everyone ate the first one soon after it was made, I had to make another one because my family demanded it! Didn't use the yellow cake mix, I like Betty Crocker's Moist French Vanilla. A keeper! Thanks!

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2008
It tastes like grease and leaves a nasty greasy film in your mouth. Don't understand all the 5 star ratings. It went in the trash, what a waste of ingredients!

Dump Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
Please note this is a "dump cake" and not a regular cake. This is like a sweet cobbler and sooo good! My mom used to make this when I was a child. I like to make it with Betty Crocker Moist French Vanilla. Great easy recipe!

Lady Baltimore Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
I'll give this 5 stars, it tastes good, however I probably won't make it again. I have another white cake recipe that I use and get similar results without jumping through all the hoops. It is good and worth trying. Thanks.

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
Good recipe, can't go wrong unless you cook it on too high of heat or don't cook it long enough. You shouldn't have to add extra flour, it will thicken if cooked properly. A couple of reviewers said there was too much sausage. Huh? Isn't that the point of sausage gravy is to have sausage in it? LOL. I use the Bob Evans hot sausage for extra flavor. Might try that pancake mix like Bubba suggested. Thanks!

Mom's Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
This recipe does not have enough baking powder!!! Try 4 tsp and omit soda, it will make a huge difference. This recipe is almost identical to the one I use, except for the baking powder amount and no soda. I'll stick with my usual recipe next time.

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
This was a good recipe, I liked the size of the cookies. Not your average wienie little cookies, nice man sized ones for my husband. I changed a few things, some reviewers mentioned the peanut flavor wasn't strong enough so I doubled the peanut butter. I used a heaping teaspoon of baking soda, doubled the vanilla, omitted the water and used honey instead of corn syrup. With the changes, it will be a permanant recipe with my family. Thanks!

Watergate Cake IV

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
I don't know what I was thinking about when I made this cake. I thought maybe the pudding and the soda would make a difference.... There is no hiding the fact that this is a BOX cake. You will have a hard time convincing most people that this is made from scratch. The topping, I used 2 cups of whipped heavy whipping cream instead of the dream whip. Added coconut and the pudding then sweetened to taste. Now this topping may be a keeper with a homemade cake. Otherwise, won't make the box cake portion again.

Southern Grilled Barbecued Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
This was SO much better than the "Barbecue Ribs" recipe I tried on this site. This recipe is tangy and not TOO sweet, like the other recipe. If you don't like "candied meat" then this recipe is for you. Great base for the sauce, you can add whatever spices or heat you prefer. I used raspberry red wine vinegar instead of cider. I didn't have cider vinegar and I wanted to get rid of the raspberry vinegar. I added garlic powder, smoked paparika I bought from a gourmet store, and a few dried hot peppers. I also boiled the ribs for an hour and skipped the vinegar baking step. They were a hit with my family! For those that complained the sauce is too thin, just simmer for awhile on the stove with no lid on the pan. I changed a few things, but I'm sure it would still be great if followed exactly. Thanks!
