Awesome Broccoli-Cheese Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2006
I am still trying to figure out what is "awesome" about this recipe. To me this was bland and boring. I have tried much tastier broccoli casserole recipes. This one just didn't cut it for me.

Black Forest Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2006
This recipe was just OK for me. I made the homemade sauce, but it turned out to still be too thin and when I put it on the cake it ran down the sides and was pretty messy. Other than that, the recipe for the acutal cake itself, was great. In fact this was the first homemade cake I made where it didn't crack after I took it out of the oven. I will definately keep the cake recipe and only used canned cherry filling mix if I make this again.

Lightning Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2006
This recipe was just what I was looking for...quick and good. I did add more chicken bouillon (3 Tbsp), cornstarch (3 Tbsp) and water (about 2 Tbps) and I added pepper and onion powder. I also kept in the microwave for about 3 minutes while stirring about every minute. Turned out very tasty!

Chocolate Icing

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2006
I didn't have any problems with this icing setting too fast. I like the fact that it hardend at all. When my 2 yr old ate the the cupcakes I iced with this, she didn't make a mess. I also added more cocoa. Overall, very good.

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2006
I made cupcakes from this recipe and the flavor reminded my of a sugar cookie. In fact, the tops were slightly hardened like a cookie, but I did leave them in the oven about 5 minutes longer than suggested. Overall, very good.

Delicious Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2006
We really liked this dish. Next time I will try it with cream of mushroom soup instead, for alternate flavor.

Cream of Cauliflower Soup I

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2006
I must say I was rather disappointed I wasted so much time and ingredients on this soup. The leek/spice combination made this soup taste rather odd. Also, I did not like the result after pureeing in the blender. All traces of the cauliflower were just gone, I couldn't even taste it. Sorry, just not my idea of cream of cauliflower soup.

Granny's Brownies

Reviewed: May 24, 2006
I followed the recipe and the only change was that I left them in the oven about 70 minutes. I loved them!! They were VERY rich and chocolatey. These weren't meant to be cakey brownies.

Pineapple Curry Rice

Reviewed: May 23, 2006
Although I was searching for a recipe for rice cooked in pineapple juice, this turned out not to be what I was looking for. My family did not care for this dish. I believe it was the celery salt that did it. My husband thought it had a "pickle" flavor. Also, I only used about 1/2 tsp of curry, as I didn't want it to overpower the other flavors.

Cherry Cobbler II

Reviewed: May 17, 2006
This was the easiest cobbler I ever made. I did use a round dish to bake it in and it turned out very pretty. Will make again.

Grilled Mustard Potato Salad

Reviewed: May 6, 2006
These potatoes weren't flavorful enough for me. I would use more seasonings next time.

Uncle Mac's Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2006
These were nothing but baked peanut butter globs. They were as mushy coming out as they were going into the oven. I even baked for longer than the recommended time. They stuck to the pan and no one in my house ate them.

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2006
This was the BEST sausage gravy I have ever made. I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out great. I disagree with some reviewers who thought it called for too much sausage. I think it was just right. Very flavorful.

Chocolate Swirls

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2006
As others have said, this reminded me of a brownie. I found this "cookie" to be quite boring and bland. I would not make again.

Bella's Rosemary Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2006
I did not like these. The rosemary was way over-powering and the cook time was way off. After 45 minutes in the oven, I ended up putting these in the microwave.

Blueberry Flax Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2006
These were wonderful. I found the batter to be thin, but as the pancakes cooked, they really thickened nicely and were not dense. I would definatly make sure the skillet is hot enough before cooking because the first batch I made got a little burnt before the inside was done and my last batch was perfect. My kids loved these. I love the fact that my family was eating healthy and they didn't even know it.

Butter Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2006
I used one can of potatoes and 1/4 cup of butter and baked in the oven. I thought these were great for a quick sidedish. My husband had two helpings and he never goes back for seconds.

These were great!! Just like the kind I had as a kid. I do prefer them without the chunky peanut butter, though.

Best Apple Crisp Ever

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2006
The topping did not get crisp and the flavor just wasn't there, very bland. I can't believe this made it into the Allrecipes Tried and True cookbook.
