Black Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2015
This was an excellent side dish. I followed the direction, but threw in a can of Rotel tomatoes (the lime spiced up version). A couple of my children thought it a little too spicy, but most of us thought it was perfect.

What an excellent find. I served this for our Easter dinner today, and my family loves it. Great flavor, and moist. Thank you for the recipe!

Cheese Garlic Biscuits II

My family loves these. I was sure to mix just until moistened, so they wouldn't become tough. Really yummy!

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2015
I think the amount of butter is over the top. The chicken was moist but lacked flavor.

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2015
I doubled the recipe, adding a teaspoon of orange extract. (I could've added more; I couldn't detect the flavor.) The dough seemed really dry and crumbly, but came together as I formed it into balls. After the first batch came out of the oven still looking like balls, I flattened them out with my hands before dipping them into sprinkles. That did the trick. They are soft. I really like the simplicity of the recipe with no refrigeration.

Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2015
Doubled the recipe. Used some of my own turkey stock. Refrigerated the leftovers, keeping the pasta separate from the soup. Very tasty. I hadn't had a lemony soup before.

Old Fashioned Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2015
So simple, I had all ingredients on hand. Improvised garlic salt in place of garlic powder (and went easy on that since other reviewers mentioned it being too garlicky). Used what Miracle Whip I had remaining and used mayo too. I'll have to remember this recipe!

White Chocolate, Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2015
Great cookies! I did 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda, as some recommended. Baked for exactly 8 minutes, and they turned out soft and a little puffy. Lovely.

Zucchini Pasta II

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2014
Great recipe with a little kick. I used 16 ounces of rotini, and basically doubled the spices, chicken broth ( just threw in a 14.5 ounce can) , and cream cheese. I added 2 zucchinis and a couple of chicken breasts. I omitted the roasted red pepper, and used dried basil instead of fresh. I was looking for a way to use up a couple of zucchinis, and this worked like a charm.

Serbian Ground Beef, Veggie, and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2014
We loved the combination of favors in this dish. I was skeptical about the cinnamon and cloves, but trusted the reviews I read, and went for it. I chopped up a potato and threw it in the ground beef mixture, and sliced another extra potato to add a middle layer, meaning I used 4 potatoes total. I was trying to stretch the dish to feed my family of 7. It worked well. Everything else was followed, except I used a 2 tablespoons sour cream instead of half-and-half (as I read someone else had done), and a couple splashes red wine vinegar instead of red wine. I think it's a pretty forgiving recipe. I want to remember this one as a way to make a pound of ground beef go a little further.

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2014
I got my dad hooked on this recipe after he tried it at my house. I omitted the jalapeños, and doubled the green chiles instead. This has become a go-to recipe for me. Great flavor!

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2014
Excellent seasonings! Loved the lime flavor on top of it all. Served it simply with a salad and tortillas on the side for anyone who wanted to make their own wraps. My family entire family enjoyed it, even the daughter who cringes at spicy food.

Best Baked French Fries

This is the best french fry recipe I've ever made. And we've used our Fry Baby many times. With this recipe, the seasoning is perfect, and they turn out crispy on the outside. My family loves them.

Easy Tuna Patties

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2014
The flavor was surprisingly fantastic. I used 4 5-ounce cans, 3 eggs, added chopped celery, and was more generous with the onion. It's a great go-to meal when I'm running low on other staples, because I always have canned tuna on hand. Rice makes a perfect side dish.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

I made this for a family gathering, along with Taco Soup and Wild Rice Soup. This one was the favorite. My children, who generally don't go for soup, requested this for leftovers. It really was excellent.

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

I made this for a turkey pot pie I was making for dinner. It was the first crust I felt like I've made with success. I thought it turned out nicely. The hubby loved it, too.

Left-Over Turkey Pot Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2012
I was wondering what I could make with my leftover turkey, and now I know a great recipe for not only that, but the gravy I usually end up throwing out. My entire family (including four children) loved it. I didn't have refrigerated crust, so made one with a recipe I got on AllRecipes and it turned out great. I doubled this and the crust recipe, and now I don't have to worry about dinner tomorrow night. Thank you!

Southwestern Spaghetti

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
This was surprisingly delicious. My mom had brought over a load of zucchini from her garden and I needed a quick, easy recipe. I don't know if it's fair to rate the recipe as I did since I changed some things, though. I omitted the ground beef (I had none on hand), I added a diced onion, and used spiral pasta instead of thin spaghetti. But it was so easy, less mess than a regular pasta dish, and my 4 and 6 year-olds liked it, too. I thought the seasoning was perfect.
