About this Cook
Married for 12 years and mother to three wonderful children, I love to cook for my family.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes, especially different ethnic ones. I have a general idea of what tastes our family likes and look to incorporate new recipes into our weekly menus.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Coming from a German background, I love to throw in a German meal every once in awhile. But I have to say, my mom's orange rolls at Easter are a must!
My cooking triumphs
I've finally got the bread making thing down!
My cooking tragedies
When I had to use an electric range after using gas, I had a few, er, problems sautéing things. It ended up that I would burn them! I'm so glad that I have my gas cook top!

Kettle Corn
Easy and Fast! Do make sure to heat your oil first! Also, sprinkle with a little salt when you dump it into a bowl - makes a ton of difference.

Baklava
Used walnuts and orange zest and it was fantastic! Definitely store uncovered - that way it won't get soggy

Greek Feta And Olive Spread
This recipe has everything that is good and perfect in Mediterranean cuisine! I used sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil and kalamata olives (go for the Kalamata!). I also had to add a bit more olive oil - I think it will vary depending on the moisture content of your feta cheese (mine was pre-crumbled so I think it was a bit drier than a whole block of feta). Also paired it with Lavash cracker bread from this site and it paired well.
