Sweet and Spicy Green Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2013
What a terrrific green bean recipe. Loved the mild heat. I had a 15 oz can of whole green beans and needed a quick weeknight side, and this fit the bill. Made as written, but obviously no need to par boil canned. Can't wait to make this with fresh green beans. Thanks for sharing your recipe with AR, a definite do-over and over! Added 8/4/13: made with fresh green beans, so good. Just sauteed in EVOO, no par boil necessary. I added a splash of rice wine vinegar to the mix, too! YUM!

Slow Cooker Pork Cacciatore

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2013
Delicious & simple comfort food! Loved this recipe, I served over spinach pasta. I made pretty much as written but added some fresh basil and oregano, red and yellow peppers in addition to the green. I had two huge center-cut pork chops, so I just added one 15 oz can of diced tomatoes and a half a 32 oz jar of sauce. Lots of sauce left over, I froze it and I'll use for a side of pasta with grilled sausages. After 7 hours low this was fall-apart tender. Thanks for sharing a great recipe, Sneakyteaky!

Coyote Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2013
This received many compliments at our 4th of July bash! It's a great base recipe. I did doctor the published recipe up with some spice based on reviews, added a couple of teaspoons of Penzey's Bold Taco seasoning, a shake or two of garlic and onion powders, salt and pep. Oh, and a shake of Tabasco, too. I did omit one can of corn, the consistency seemed perfect to me after just adding one. Served with Fritos scoops, and chili cheese Fritos. A winner! Thanks for sharing with AR.

Bombay Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2013
This was very, very good. I used the marinade on B/S chix and grilled them, such wonderful flavor. Next time I think I'll add a tad more curry powder, and use hot curry, for a little extra zing. Highly recommended, and thanks for sharing your recipe with AR.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2013
Just about the most simple, yummy recipe I've tried on this site! My tenderloin was about 95% frozen at 9:00am, just threw it in the crock with the sauce (used half marsala, half dry sherry, as that's all I had) and it was just phenominal! Fall apart tender at 7:00pm. I'll use the rest for pulled pork sammies. Thanks for sharing your recipe with AR, a WINNER!

Curry Pineapple Fried Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2013
This was deeelish! I had chicken marinated in pineapple nectar and mojo criollo for tropical kabobs, but a down-pour put the nix on that. This recipe came in and saved the day! I added some pepper bacon, red & green pepper, and peas. Also used a splash of light soy in addition to the published ingredients. Great dish! Thanks for sharing your recipe, stannius.

Dirty Martini Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2013
Loved this dip! Don't even think about making this if you don't like vodka, oh! it is definitely in there and you can taste it. It really does taste like a dirty martini, garnished with a cream cheese filled olive. I served with Toll House Herbed Pita chips, yummy. This would be a great appy to bring to a cocktail party. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

Indian Shrimp Curry

Reviewed: May 27, 2013
Sensational recipe! The spice mix on this is just perfect, I did add a 1/2 teasppon of hot curry powder for a little heat in addition to the published spices. I also vegged it up with some added red pepper, sweet peas, and shredded carrot. Loved this, a new AR fave! Thanks for sharing this outstanding curry recipe with AR.

Firecracker Grilled Alaska Salmon

Reviewed: May 10, 2013
This was absolutely delicious! Hubs grilled to perfection. I used a little less oil, about 1/3 cup, and cut the other ingredients down accordingly as my salmon filet was about a pound total. I only used about 1/2 tsp red pepper flake, next time I won't be so wimpy and I'll spice it up a bit more, maybe a shake or two of sriacha or tabasco? Thanks for sharing your recipe.

Mushroom Orzo

Reviewed: May 6, 2013
Delicious! So yummy, quick and easy. I'm on a mission to use up pantry and freezer items this week, and this fit the bill. I halved the recipe to 1/2 cup orzo, and used chicken broth and dry sherry I had in the fridge. I used a can of sliced mushrooms from the pantry and some shredded italian cheese I had to use. Lots of pepper. This was amazing! Just think what this would be with fresh mushrooms and good quality parm. It's a do-over for sure. Thanks for sharing with AR!

Old Chinatown Pork Burgers

Reviewed: May 3, 2013
This is such an original and tasty burger recipe. Really enjoyed trying these last night, hubs grilled them to perfection! I did half the recipe and did make a couple of deletions and additions. Besides halfing all of the ingredients, I added a shot of Mae Ploy sweet chili sauce and a dab of hot Chinese mustard to the meat mix. I found the mix pretty wet, but formable, so I skipped the breadcrumb and egg. I let the patties set up in the fridge for a good three hours before grilling. I used sweet and sour sauce with a little sweet chili sauce and a squirt of hot chili sauce, heated in the micro, to top. Yummy! Thanks for sharing your recipe with AR.

Quick Seafood Enchiladas

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2013
I enjoyed trying this recipe last night. It is quick and easy, and very versitile. I used two 6oz bags of cooked salad shrimp, and did add a 6oz can of white crab meat drained. I also added a 4oz can of diced green chilis, and a tablespoon or so of Penzey's Bold taco Seasoning to spice it up a bit. The filling was a bit wet, my fault I'm sure with the additions, so I had to cook it down quite a bit. But the result was rich and tasty. Thanks for sharing your recipe with AR!

Curried Pork Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2013
So delicious and different. Definitely a recipe for the adventurous, adult burger palate. I used yellow curry paste, and made the mix as written. Hubs grilled to perfection. We topped with sauteed onions and peppers in EVOO on onion buns. What a great summer grilling recipe and a nice change from traditional beef burgers for your next grill nite. Great recipe, wdawn, a definite do-over!

Loved this quick marinade/sauce. I used boneless/skinless chix. I just tossed all of the spices in with the other ingredients, doubled the curry (love the stuff)and marinated about five hours or so. The apricot is so delicious. Nice weeknight recipe, thanks for sharing with AR!

Chicken Piccata with Artichoke Hearts

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2013
I enjoyed trying this recipe last night, love the combo of artichoke and capers in this. If you like LOTS of sauce, you will love this recipe. I do like sauce but found this a little too soupy, next time I will not add the liquid from the artichokes and cut the broth to a cup or so to start. Served over angel hair pasta. I found the flavors bright and springy, much needed on this dull March day!

Easy Asian Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2013
Super quick and easy and so delicious! I didn't have sugar snaps, which would be great in this, but did have some shredded carrot that needed to be used. I made the dressing as written with the small exception of just a smidge more sugar and vinegar. I had about 8 oz buccatini pasta to use up, a big, fat spaghetti noodle with a little hollow center. It was terrific! Thanks for sharing your recipe with us.

Meaty Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2013
This was a fun recipe to try for Fat Tuesday! This makes a lot of jambalaya, for sure. I used the published amounts of chicken and sausage, but halved the ham and added about 6 oz shrimp at the end of cooking. I used the spices exactly as published including the file powder, delicious, I would call this a medium spicy hot finished. You may want to half or omit the cayanne if you don't like spicy, but it was perfect for us. This is a breeze to put together and great for weeknights. Thanks for sharing your recipe with AR!
