Arroz Con Pollo

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2015
An absolutely delicious recipe! Such a comforting and hearty winter dish, and loaded with sweet/salty/garlicy flavor. I just used 1 1/2 lb boneless/skinless thighs, and the other ingredients as listed. I added two tablespoons of sofrito as well. I also added the peas, raisins, olives (green) and pimentos with the rice and other ingredients to make cooking this a breeze. I baked for an hour, covered, since I was using less meat, and boneless thighs. A definite do-over, thanks for sharing this yummy recipe with AR.

Bolognese on Bucatini

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2015
This really came out great. I found three turkey bolognese recipes I liked parts of, but not a complete one. So I developed this with my favorite parts in a little smaller batch. Don't skip the Montreal, it really makes it. I didn't think this needed any added salt or pepper, both are in the Montreal, so taste before adding anything.

Best Calico Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2015
Joan, these were so, so, so good! I made them for my Sugar Bowl party, and they were a hit. I wish I had taken a picture, they were so pretty, but in my rush to get the food out I didn't ;(. Only change, I used a pound of ground chorizo, browned, instead of the bacon and beef. They were spicy and oh, so good! Thanks for sharing, this will be my new go-to bean recipe!

Buckeye Bash Buffalo Pasta Salad

This came out great. Served this at my Sugar Bowl party and it was a hit. Made exactly as written, about 4 hours before serving. Might add just a tad more buffalo wing sauce next time. Thanks to the Buzz Babes for helping me the final touches on this recipe, the crumbled blue cheese was awesome!

Lobster Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2015
Loved this recipe. I made this for a football party and everyone loved the taste and fun presentation. I made as written, but did add a bit more horseradish, some tabasco, and Old Bay. Also added a few tablespoons of milk to make a smoother consistency. Served with Old Bay flavored potato chips, what a decadent snack! Thanks for your recco, Lucky Noodles, and thanks for sharing your recipe with AR chef-girl-dee!

Sweet Pork Slow Cooker Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2014
We really enjoyed this delicious and different chili recipe. Loved the sweet/savory/salty going on here, especially the addition of the pineapple, yum! With an ingredient list this big I did make a few tweaks based on what I had, used 1 lb ground pork and 1 lb ground chicken (I use this mix in a sloppy joe recipe i make and love the texture and cuts a few calories), a 15 oz can of fire roasted tomatoes instead of the romas, an 8oz can of tomato sauce instead of paste, and doubled the curry, love the stuff. I also added a couple of heaping tablespoons of sambal oleek for some heat. Lots left over for the freezer. Thanks for sharing your recipe with AR, a hit!

Grandma's Pork Chops in Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2014
Terrific quick recipe and a great alternative to "the can". I did take some liberties with the cooking method and a few ingredient tweaks since I was using super thin cut pork chops. I used Montreal on the chops so skipped added garlic to the pan and browned in a mix of butter and shallot infused oil. I removed chops and added mushrooms and onion to the pan, sauted until soft, then added a can of french onion soup, sherry, cold butter, and a slurry of sherry/flour to thicken. Lots of nice cracked black pepper and a few shakes of dried bouquet garni, too. Added the pork chops back into the sauce and let them gently simmer for a half hour or so on the stove. Just delicious. Great base, glad I found your recipe & thanks for sharing with AR.

Slow Cooker Chicken Gumbo with Shrimp

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2014
This was a delicious and easy weeknight gumbo. Took me about 15 minutes to throw together. A few enhancements, I used two cans of tomatoes with okra and one stewed, added sliced andouille chicken sausage, and used a couple of teaspoons of file gumbo. Enjoyed this recipe! Thanks for sharing, Reynolds.

French Chicken Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2014
Loved this stew! Makes a big pot, for sure! I used nice large chunks of veggies and just eyeballed the amounts. Recipe does say add wine, but the ingredient list doesn't show it, so I added 1/2 cup dry sherry. I did use Classico Creamy Alfredo, it was delicious. My only regret was slow cooking this on high only 5 hours (time constraints), next time on low for a good eight+ hours or so, my chunky carrots were still a bit hard, but edible. I added some garlic powder too. A do-over for sure, hubs just loved this.

Crab and Swiss Melts

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2014
Thank you for sharing your recipe with AR, JAYDA, these were tasty. I added some fine diced celery to the mix and used liberal amounts of Tabasco. Next time I think I'll use 1/2 of the cream cheese called for so the taste is a little more "crabby" than "cheesey". Served with Cindy's clam chowder, a nice easy meal.

OLD BAY® | CRUSTED SHRIMP

So delicious! I used butter in place of the oil in the marinade. The spices are perfect. I used Don's Costa del Sol BBQ sauce for dipping...perfect. Served over rice for dinner, but would be a great appy for football/holidays. A keeper for sure.

Pimiento Relleno (Puerto Rican Stuffed Peppers)

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2014
Loved this tasty recipe! I had two colored peppers to use up, so I halved the ground beef and rice. I did use more than half of the spices called for, and had no tomato sauce, so I just used tomato salsa from the fridge. Also diced and added the tops of the peppers to the mix. The two step method of preparing the peppers was a bit time consuming, but the softness and texture was perfect, I'll use this method for other recipes. I packed the peppers with filling, and easily had enough stuffing left for one more, I suspect with the full recipe, as written, you will get enough stuffing for at least five, if not six peppers. A hit with hubs, I'll make this again. Thanks for sharing your recipe with AR, Michelle!

Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2014
This is such a delicious comfort food recipe! Hubs loved this and declared it a "10". I followed the recipe very closely, only tweaks were using stew meat cut pretty thinly and...big one... only added about 4 oz sour cream. I don't like an overwhelming sour cream taste and like to taste more "beefiness". Served over buttered kluski noodles. Thanks to Amanda from the Buzz for this recommendation, and thanks for sharing your recipe with AR, Daria. It's a keeper!

Slow Cooker Mesquite Chipotle Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
Absolutely delicious! Hubs loved all of the spice in this, and I loved the fact it had all of the great veg! I also love this can be made with freezer/pantry items! I did make a few tweaks...big one was I prepared in my in my cast iron soup pot on the stove and simmered about 1 1/2 hours. I also used minced garlic while browning the turkey. I just used a 15 oz can of mixed veggies & canned fiesta corn instead of frozen. Spices as written except garlic powder, I would say this was a medium + heat, probably would have been spicier if it cooked down in the slow cooker. Perfect for us. Sincere thanks for a quick and delicious, also more nutricious, chili recipe OC! Love your recipes.

Apple Cider Pulled Pork with Caramelized Onion and Apples

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2014
Recipe Group pick Sept. 2014: You are so right, coldstar32, this is the perfect fall sandwich! This would be fun for sliders and tailgating! I made the recipe as written, just removed the pork and strained the broth, then shredded, and added some broth back in for moisture. The topping is deeeelish. I served on pretzle rolls, perfect for this. Lots of leftovers, so I just added the apple mix right in with the pork for freezing, should be great. Thanks for sharing with AR.

What a super easy and delicious recipe! I used this for bone-in pork chops, amazing sauce. I did follow previous reviewer suggestions and used 1/2 BBQ sauce and 1/2 ketchup, perfect. Otherwise followed to a "T". Definite do-over for easy-peasy weeknight dinner. Thanks for sharing with AR!

Tacos De Matamoros

What a great alternative to "the packet"! I love the seasonings for this beef filling. I use an entire onion and pepper and do add a little chipotle powder for smokiness, along with 2/3 cup low sodium beef broth. Thanks for sharing your recipe with AR, outstanding.
