About this Cook
I'm a very busy mom to 4 kitties and my adorable hubby of 28 years, Jeff. I'm an RN and travel extensively for work, so I really love being home and cooking great meals for myself and my husband. The one advantage I have traveling often is exploring new and exciting local restaurants and cuisines. We also travel during the winter to escape the cold, and I'm always inspired to re-create dishes I have on vacation.
My favorite things to cook
We love to party and tailgate for the OSU games, so I enjoy making chilis, soups, and stews in the fall. Definitely BBQ's and grilling out in the summer. We love seafood, and I make paellas for get-togethers whenever I have a chance. I enjoy making Thai, Chinese, and Indian dishes, too. Love spicy food!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am always asked to bring salads to our get-togethers, I love making them and people seem to enjoy eating them. We have everyone over for Christmas Eve for a $10 gift exchange, it's so much fun, and everyone makes a pot of soup to share.
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say paella. They are time consuming, and a bit expensive to make, so you don't want a clump of rice as a result. Timing is everything!
My cooking tragedies
I'm not a baker, and so I've had some tragic results in this area. I really admire great bakers and pastry chefs.

Summertime Tomato Salad
Absolutely loved this tomato salad! What a great , simple summer side. I used 1/4 cup oil, and did double the mustard. This makes plenty of dressing, easily enough for six tomatoes. I used orange, yellow, and red tomatoes, so pretty. Thanks for sharing your recipe, Jay!

Shanghai Noodle Salad
Loved this tasty cold noodle salad, perfect for summer BBQ's. I used whole wheat spaghetti. I did double the sauce, and skipped the added salt. Unlike most noodle salads I make, I felt this tasted best freshly dressed, I served the next day too, and but could barely taste the dressing. Love all of the colorful veggies in this. Thanks for sharing a great recipe, tyansia.

Orzo Tomato Artichoke Salad
Loved this light and refreshing side! I prepared for the Recipe Group pick of the week. I prepared as a cold salad, and used Marzetti's Balsamic Vinaigrette in leu of the vinegar and olive oil (out of balsamic!). I also added a few shakes of galic and onion powders, sea salt and white pepper. A great summer side for BBQ, I'll do this many more times.
