About this Cook
I have been cooking for my two children for over twenty years and this fall for the first time I will be home alone (both kids off at college). So I will be cooking for my tastes and what I feel like which should be interesting. My elderly parents live near by and I cook dinners and freeze them to be used later by my folks. I am always looking for good and easy casserole type recipes to try for them.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake for my family and bring things to work to share.
My favorite family cooking traditions
For many years I get together with 10-12 other women in December and make Baklava. We have a great time and everyone loves the results
My cooking triumphs
Simple things, trying a new recipe for my kids and having them say that they want it again
My cooking tragedies
Trying a recipe that looks good on paper but does not turn out anything like I thought it would.

Toasted Party Mix
I make a similar recipe but cook it in the microwave in just minutes. Put all cereal and spices and melted butter in a microwave safe bowl, stir well cook on high for 2 minutes, stir cook for 1 1/2 minutes stir and cook for 1 minute. Take out and cool. Just make sure the bowl in not a plastic type bowl as butter reacts to the plastic

Potato Salmon Patties
My family loves it when I make these Salmon Patties. I use the salmon in the pouch rather than the can and I serve it with a dill sauce which I found on this site.

Strawberry Torte
I have a similar recipe using a baked pie crust instead of the lady fingers. It also call for melting choc chips with one T shortening then drizzling over the top. That adds a very nice taste to it.
