Sangria! Sangria!

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2009
SO SO good. I added apples. I poured in a glass with frozen grapes (no ice needed that way) about 3/4 wine to 1/4 sprite.

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2008
really tasty...but mine was done in 5 hours on low..it looked like it would be too runny until I shredded the chx and added it back in..then I needed to add a bit MORE sauce. added garlic and sauteed onions too..so easy

Baked Ziti III

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2007
I cut this in half and it would serve 4 just fine. Wonderful and cheesy, I used lowfat ricotta with a beaten egg instead of sour cream and mixed it in with the noodles so they wouldn't dry out. I would make this again

Sweet N Sour Beans

Reviewed: May 24, 2007
I make a version of this recipe that uses 1 can of butter beans instead of black eyed peas. Also if you are in a hurry you can bake this at 350 degrees for one hour covered, then transfer to crock pot and keep on warm till the rest of dinner is ready. Also, keep the onions in rings...looks prettier!

Tin Roof Sundae Pie

used honey bunches of oats and it was a hit!! I might try using tin roof ice cream next time for extra chocolate crunch. This was quite rich though...only need a small piece. Thanks for sharing!

Hazelnut-Crusted Salmon

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2006
I have made this many times to rave reviews. Easy, looks lovely on the plate. I mixed in a Tbsp or so of orange juice to the mayo mixture. Also used a pinch of dried tarragon as I did not have fresh, worked out fine. Think I might try crushed macadamia nuts next time. This one is a KEEPER!

Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
This was easier than I thought. I 1 and a half times the recipe for a 19 pound turkey. I double garbage bagged the turkey and put the brine with it and kept it in a cooler in the garage..stayed cold and there was no clean up. The turkey stayed moist but there weren't many dripping to make gravy out of. I just had to add some chicken stock. What drippings there were made for a bit salty gravy. But no one seemed to mind, as the turkey was so great!

Green Bean and Portobello Mushroom Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
A nice change from the usual. I used canned green beans, and used only 1'2 the baby bellos..was perfect and the almonds gave a nice crunch. I made it the night before, set it out for an hour then baked as usual. I also used regular cream of mushroom, not wanting the strong garlic flavor. Would make again!

Chocolate Chip Cookies VI

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2006
I liked it, but DH and 5 year old did not..too much like a "healthy cookie"..zucchini was tooi recognizeable. Maybe more choc chips and finer chopping of Z? But otherwise like and cakey...not sweet at all.

Baked Scallops

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2005
Thought this would be better than it was. I followed the recipe exactly and it was just ok, not bad, but not great either. The topping was mushy and not too appealing and seemed to over power the scallops. Probably won't add this one to my keeper list.

Best Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2005
YUM..thanks..I used half hot italian sausage and sweet for other half.gave it xtra zip..also used tortellini, but think any pasta would be fine. Very hearty and filling with crusty bread. I worried the wine would over power this..but it DID NOT and didn't even taste like wine..and I used a Cab Sauv! A keeper for certain

Connie's Zucchini "Crab" Cakes

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2005
really tasty!! I added more Old Bay, some garlic and a little imitation crab. Also, squeezing the zucc over the sink worked well for me. My husband ate them at room temp and thought they were great as well. Also put some sweet hot mustard on top for zip!!

BB's Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2005
I used cream of chicken soup, not cream of celery and used milk instead of sherry. Turned out great..chicken was moist and with lots of flavor. I did bake at 325 for 30 minutes covered then 30 minutes uncovered as others recommended. A comfort food for sure! Thanks
