Quick Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2005
though i usually hate to use canned "cream of" soups, this recipe is easy & quick & tastes great. i add sour cream instead of mayo & use fresh raw broccoli instead of frozen. i also top with some breadcrumbs as well as the cheddar. don't forget the lemon juice - it makes a huge difference! this works well for making the day before & storing in the fridge 'til you're ready to cook.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
I love this pound cake. I always add all vanilla extract and no almond extract and it turns out great every time. The cooking time was exactly right, too. Great easy favorite! Just make sure that you thoroughly beat in the eggs and flour to get the fluffiness you need!

The Best Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2005
these are great meatballs. i made them last night & cooked them in the oven at 350 for about 15 minutes (i guess the cooking time depends on how big your meatballs are). that way it wll cut down on fat. i used ground sirloin. i'm going to add them to spaghetti sauce tonight. great for a make-ahead meal!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2005
mine came out a bit dry but it was still good. the fennel is VERY strong- a little goes a long way. i'll definitely skip that next time! okay but not fantastic.

Cinnamon Bread I

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2005
i was disappointed with this recipe. i tripled the topping & used brown sugar for the topping instead of white. it was not swirly at all- more like little blobs. the taste was alright, but not good enough to share with anybody! :(

Broccoli Beef I

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2005
this was pretty good. i marinated the beef all day in teriyaki sauce with a couple shakes of ginger powder. my sauce turned out a little too gravy-ish, so next time i would lighten up on the flour & only use 1/8 cup. i wanted more of a brothy, glazey sauce. i splashed some worcestershire in with the soy sauce, & i think it made a huge difference! we liked it, but did not love it.

Best of the Best Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2005
absolutely GREAT! my guests & husband loved them. the best part was the topping another reviewer recommended: 1/4 cup white sugar, 1 T butter & 2 T flour. they made them even better. next time i will only fill the muffin tins half full as 2/3 full resulted in overflowing (and kinda flat) muffins. thank you, lynn!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2005
I used two cans of black beans & cooked this for almost 11 hours before shredding the meat- it was great. Very tender meat! My husband thought it still tasted too tomato-y, so next time I might put one can less tomatoes and one more can black beans. I also used canned creamed corn (wanted to get rid of the can) & it had no noticeable effect. Topped with shredded cheese & sour cream. For how little effort it requires, it is a great recipe.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2005
This was pretty good- I just rolled the chicken in italian breadcrumbs after pounding it and cooked it on 400 til almost done, then topped with a slice of provolone (husband rarely likes swiss) and a slice of ham. then i poured the sauce over it- i added to much cornstarch so the sauce was wierd but it was still good. i'll do a better job on the sauce next time! :)

Garlic Croutons

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2005
these were good- i mixed it up a little bit & used a garlic pepper seasoning instead of the garlic since so many had complained about the garlic burning. also, i just used leftover deli rolls that were half way stale anyways. great use for old bread! will definitely keep it in mind. made more right after dinner & just put a little olive oil in the bottom of a cake pan, added parmesan and garlic pepper seasoning & then tossed the bread cubes in it & threw it in the oven. less mess, & about the same taste as doing that part on the stove.
