About this Cook
I am a mom with a really large family and several dogs and an eldest daughter who loves to hunt and bring home things for me to cook. The next eldest is into nutrition and rates what her sister brings home :) The younger kids garden with the older ones because it is what their sisters do
My favorite things to cook
Ex boyfriends. LOL My girlfriends and I used to break up with a guy and then make a big dinner and make everyone laugh as we told stories, some which were true. Nowadays I love to do stirfries as we are a family on the go but cooking is also very zen for me and my time to do something creative for my family at least once a week. We are Byzantine Catholic and we also cook vegetarian on fasting days and the food is actually tastier when we are fasting and healthier!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I temporarily lost my eldest in a custody battle with my ex. The kids would come home craving salads (their step mom is the Queen o' Carbs.) They are home now and we have a salad at every meal in adition to a hot vegetable dish. It means a lot to my daughters that I cook like this. They came home to more food yet they each lost 60 pounds within six months of being back full time. This love inspired my eldest to major in ag. studies and she gardens with the little kids now and the next eldest is into nutrition!
My cooking triumphs
The vegetables-- they are woven into every meal and I feel that this is partly why my family is fit.
My cooking tragedies
I made a balogna and mustard sandwich for my mother when she had morning sickness with my little brother. She took two bites and I recall a certain shade of green over her face and she told me to go brush my hair so she could get rid of the sandwhich!

Boiled Tongue
My children loved it and that is all that matters. My mom used to make it this way and I loved it.
