Easy Chicken Fajita Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2014
We made as written and really wanted to like this, all the right ingredients, but it was boring. Served on homemade wheat tortillas with roasted red pepper, vidalia onions, salsa, cheese...etc. Perhaps I'll try a recipe with cilantro next time.

Almond Rhubarb Coffee Cake

Reviewed: May 25, 2014
This was fabulous! Normally I rate a recipe as it is written but with the reviews leaning in favor of 3 cups Rhubarb I made mine accordingly. Then I used fresh ground soft wheat, 1/2 cup kefir w/ 1/2 cup milk, 1/3 c applesauce w/ 1/3 cup melted butter (I don't use vegetable oils). 1 cup sugar was wonderfully sweet, no need for more here. Added a tsp cinnamon. No almonds in the cake but doubled the topping. Cooked in a stone bundt pan then realized the almonds would be on the bottom LOL, next time I'll use a spring form to keep those pretty almonds on top. Really appreciated the reviews on this one. I'm sure it's truly delicious as written also. Thanks Neris for sharing this "Mom PLEASE make this again" recipe.

Simple Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2014
Made as written. These are not great as is, sorry. We had to add extra mayo to get the mustard & salt taste palatable. We won't be making them again.

Luscious Eggnog

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2013
Thank you BethR117! You saved my eggnog. I followed the recipe exactly but still ended up with lumpy custard. After reading your review I ran the hot custard through my kitchen blender then let it cool. It was perfect after adding the whipped cream . We'll be making this again and again!

This was super easy and even my butter n bacon husband liked it! This was too rich for a pudding but had a wonderful deep chocolate flavor and perfect texture for frosting. Thank you

Almond Meringue Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2012
Sorry but the taste and texture of these cookies were not worth the price of the ingredients. Not one of the kids cared for these either and they'll usually eat anything sweet. I made them exactly as written.

Ricotta Gnocchi

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2012
Made just the Gnocchi. I drained the ricotta cheese and used only one large egg. These were so easy to make and ALL the children asked for seconds. I dropped them in boiling water in small amounts then I added them to the hot vegetable beef soup I'd made. I simmered them for about 5 more minutes and they were fantastic. My 7yo asked if we could have them again tomorrow night :O) Thanks so much Shelbi!

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2012
WAY too salty as written. Reduce the salt to one Tbs and this Italian dressing mix would be 5*****. We use this mix constantly. I omit the water in my preparation because I find the lettuce tends to have water on it from washing. Thanks Debby

Oatmeal Sourdough Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2012
Fantastic! I've made 2 batches so far. I followed the recipe pretty closely except for the additional flour needed which is very typical when making bread because of environmental differences. The second batch I used 1/4 butter (1/2 cup is just to much fat in a loaf of bread), and rolled oats that I soaked in the water, 1 cup wheat flour 2 cups white and again additional flour to reach the right consistency. These were light and fluffy with a soft crust. The kids devoured them. I agree it would be very hard to get 24 rolls from one batch but these are so yummy I'll need to double them every time! A few hints when using sour dough; it must be kneaded until the dough is soft not sticky and an imprint with your knuckle springs back slowly. There is a fantastic site to explain the nuances of working with sour dough http://www.thewilbournegroup.com/Sourdough/SourdoughStarterHelp.html , especially note the paragraph on shaping and baking. I've never had another misshapen flat loaf again.(well worth the read). We made cinnamon rolls with a batch of these, also very yummy. Thanks for the great recipe!

Homemade Condensed Milk

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2012
This is exactly what I needed for the granola bar recipe here on AR. I replaced 1 cup white sugar with 1/2 cup honey. We are trying to reduce white sugar in our diet. It had the perfect consistency! Thank you!

This was very nice, not too sweet and a great way to use up some of the abundance of maple syrup we produced last year. Thanks

Buttery Yeast Spritz

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2011
I halved this because I was so unsure of the yeast but I wanted to try a new spritz recipe. The only change was to add vanilla and almond extracts. I also baked the spritz recipe my German mother and I have been using for over 40 years. In side by side taste tests 7 of 7 of us preferred this recipe. No contest! This will be the recipe I pass down to my children and someday grandchildren! Thanks so much!

Surprisingly yummy considering how fast and easy this was to make. I omitted peas and carrots and substituted lightly browned diced sweet potato and corn in the olive oil. Thanks for the great recipe.

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: May 5, 2011
To keep the cinnamon from rising to the surface of the milk, wisk it into the eggs before adding other ingredients. I used honey in place of white sugar which we don't use, and a bit of nutmeg. Nice fluffy french toast.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
Made these Christmas Eve for Christmas morning. I used my Kitchenaid and followed the recipe almost exactly using all purpose flour and butter. These were delicious. I had no problems with rolling out the dough or cinnamon filling oozing out (I mixed the ingredients together first). I will make these again using less sugar in the bread dough as it didn't need the extra sweetness. The texture is wonderful and my husband , not normally a sweets eater, spread the icing on the icebox cookies too. Thanks for a keeper recipe.
