Hi, I'm the proud mom of five children ages 4 to 15. We home educate our children out in the beautiful countryside of NH. I bake my own bread, make most foods from scratch, and love almost every minute of it. After nearly 20 years of marriage and five incredible children I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that no you can't "get it all done"! But God is gracious!
My favorite things to cook
Anything All my family will eat. This includes the picky one who only likes his vegetables raw, the teen who never thinks there is enough, my husband on Atkins and the baby who thinks everything is "too spicy". Any recipe ideas?
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas we all make Spritz cookies together. Enough to float a small battleship.
My cooking triumphs
My children request almost anything as ideas for their birthday cakes. I've made Saturn complete with edible rings, R2D2 to scale, a Lego castle, a 3D choo-choo train, and many more, but my favorite was when my 7 year old brought me his favorite space toy and requested a cake that "looks just like this". He was SOO excited when he blew out the sparkling flaming candles of his rocket cake. Their smiles make those hours of work worth every minute.
My cooking tragedies
Years ago I attempted to make Never Fail Fudge from a recipe on the back of a jar of Fluff. It failed! I'd forgotten to add the 5 cups of sugar!

Easy Chicken Fajita Marinade
We made as written and really wanted to like this, all the right ingredients, but it was boring. Served on homemade wheat tortillas with roasted red pepper, vidalia onions, salsa, cheese...etc. Perhaps I'll try a recipe with cilantro next time.

Almond Rhubarb Coffee Cake
This was fabulous! Normally I rate a recipe as it is written but with the reviews leaning in favor of 3 cups Rhubarb I made mine accordingly. Then I used fresh ground soft wheat, 1/2 cup kefir w/ 1/2 cup milk, 1/3 c applesauce w/ 1/3 cup melted butter (I don't use vegetable oils). 1 cup sugar was wonderfully sweet, no need for more here. Added a tsp cinnamon. No almonds in the cake but doubled the topping. Cooked in a stone bundt pan then realized the almonds would be on the bottom LOL, next time I'll use a spring form to keep those pretty almonds on top. Really appreciated the reviews on this one. I'm sure it's truly delicious as written also. Thanks Neris for sharing this "Mom PLEASE make this again" recipe.

Simple Deviled Eggs
Made as written. These are not great as is, sorry. We had to add extra mayo to get the mustard & salt taste palatable. We won't be making them again.
