About this Cook
I come from a large family (9 siblings, 9 spouses, 21 kids, several married with kids ect.) who live to visit, cook, drink and eat (but not necessarily in that order). I have 3 kids...one is a meat and potato's type (but coming around), another vegetarian, 3rd anything goes (pretty much) and my husband adventuresome by force.
My favorite things to cook
I love ethnic foods, particularly Thai and Indian. Also very fond of vegetarian recipes/cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
That would be the Christmas cooking extravaganza!
My cooking triumphs
A huge Indian feast that involved 8 dishes including homemade Naan. The meal got the coveted seal of approval from my friend who is from England and knows her Indian food.
My cooking tragedies
Mistook cayenne powder for chili powder many years ago. That was one spicy compost that week!

Fish Chowder
This was lovely. I turned it into a seafood chowder and added chopped shrimp and crab at the very end. Next time I would add a bit of sherry...maybe some roasted corn and red pepper. Easy to make. Nice for company as well.

Galaktoboureko
This was amazing! Used it for a ladies dessert while planning a vacation to Greece this summer. Slight modifications only: I used less than 1/2 of the sugar water mixture because I sprinkled a mixture of cinnamon and icing sugar powder on the top before serving (sprinkle after you've cut it). I used a good quality pizza cutter to cut it. This worked really well. Lots of oouuwwss and auuwwees before and after. My daughter even took some pictures of it. Great success.
