Buttery Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
This is quite possibly my favorite "bread" recipe. I will not only make rolls with it, but will also do small loaves of bread (in mini vintage Pyrex loaf dishes) and then make the absolute BOMB DIGGITY French Toast with it ever. This bread recipe makes the best French Toast I've ever had, well almost anyway...B&O Espresso in Seattle makes a panko crusted French Toast but I'm babbling....seriously, my favorite bread recipe. Yum.

BBQ Steak

Used this on tri tip, forgot the rosemary by accident, and it was PHENOMENAL. The meat melted in my mouth. YUM.

Portuguese Fresh Tuna (Sauce and Marinade)

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
Blech. Not sure what I did wrong, if it was me. Flavors not good, a lot of work goes into prepping. Sadface.

Costa Rican Coffee Panna Cotta with Bittersweet Chocolate-Rum Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
Not bad, overly sweet and fairly rich. Agreed on the coconut milk. I might even leave the rum out next time if I try it again.

Rib Eye Steaks with a Soy and Ginger Marinade

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
I get asked for the recipe every time I make this. Absolutely awesome. It's good on chicken and pork, too. Tried that a few times ;)

Beer Roasted Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
used Corona for the beer as it was all I had on hand; I loved the image of the bird with a can shoved up its rear end, was wicked funny. Suprisingly moist, good flavors, didn't really brown much though...must work on that. The limes in the body cavity really add a bit of a kick to the chicken flavor!

Cinnamon-Raisin Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
My only alteration I did to this recipe was I used golden raisins, and boiled them first to plump them up a bit. That's an old secret of my mom's when using raisins in a recipe. Boyfriend cannot stand raisins, so I just cut him a piece of this and handed it to him without a word-he asked what the fruit was and I said currants *grins*! He liked it until he spotted the raisin box (dumb me). He said he'd really like it without the raisins, and my housemate ate a good portion of it too!

Raspberry Oat Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
these were great to pack for hiking down on the Columbia River Gorge. I used an organic raspberry jam, and it was so yummy! Will definitely make again to have on hand for camping trips as well!

Came out great, served it with Jasmine rice. Kitchen smelled great all day from this. The honey and the soy is a nice blend of sweet/salty!

French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
This recipe was absolutely spot on. Delish. Perfect. I made one alteration, quite by accident: I did not have any regular sliced bread so I used texas toast. All I gotta say is, DANG!! *nomnomnomnom*

Easy to make. Good flavors. I think I like my brats with sauerkraut too. But will try it again, the boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed.

Glazed Dijon Carrots

OUTSTANDING. Great flavors all together. I steamed the carrots instead of boiling them, and they were nice and tender! 3 noms out of 3! NOM NOM NOM!

Cola-Basted Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
Made this for Christmas dinner. The ham itself was fairly nice and moist for the most part, but the paste was wicked thick (and goopey) and did not come out as a glaze, as the recipe mentioned. I was trying to duplicate a recipe a friend did for a baby shower, and while this one was not horrible, it wasn't the greatest cola ham I have ever had...this gets 2 or 2 1/2 "Noms"..."Nom Nom"...

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
3 "Noms"...as in, Nom Nom Nom. Yum. Made this to go with my ham for Christmas dinner and the flavors were amazing together. I might try a different nut next time, just for curiosity sake, but the cashews were good! I will totally be making this again and again.

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
I heart potatoes. I heart new ideas with potatoes. I tend to tweak a recipe with what I have in the house-I used Gulden's Spicy Mustard instead of a dry mustard- and sweet vidalia onions-and oh my, what a nice kick it added. I will be keeping this one in my rotation! Very yummy!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
Nom Nom Nom...soooo good and soooo easy! The first time I did it I didn't have the dry Italian dressing mix so I used a bottle of Italian dressing that was pre-made-it came out a bit oily (gee I wonder WHY lol) but otherwise yummy. Making it for the third time today and it's definitely a keeper. Thanks so much!

Julia's Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies In A Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
Jar itself presented really nice...was impressed with how pretty it looked. The cookies themselves TASTED great-but looked all weird. I tried three different tweaks (as recommended by ratings here) to the recipe before I put them into the jars-two full eggs, softened butter etc...and they still turned out weird looking to me. The taste was good as was the presentation in the jar though!

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
Yum, yum, YUMMY!!! Follow the hint at the top of the recipe and use corn starch-keep stirring until your arm feels like it's ready to fall off-and you won't be able to keep your face out of the pot that you are stirring. The custard is heavenly, and the whole pie is just...well, WHEW. This went quick when I made it, and will join my collection of "standards" to make!! YUM!!!
