Dilly Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2010
I have been making this recipe ever since I first saw it in Taste of Home years ago. It's always a big hit! I found that to make it easier for large crowds, that I just get a loaf of garlic bread, bake it as directed and then assemble the sandwich on that. Just cut it into single servings. I always double the cream cheese mixture as well.

Pasta with Peas and Sausage

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
This was so good! I did as someone else suggested and after the sausage and peas were ready, added a bit of flour and then milk to thicken it up and cut the fat. I did add some heavy cream a bit later, but only maybe 1/2 cup. My whole family really enjoyed this meal, including a husband, brother-in-law and 3 and 1 year old boys.

Fudgy Peanut Butter Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2008
Weird texture...my husband who was very excited about them when he saw the recipe was very disapointed. I will keep looking for the "perfect" peanut butter brownies for him.

Cinnamon Coffee Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I frosted the Mexican Chocolate Cake from this site with this frosting and it was delicious! Disolving the coffee and cinnamon in hot water was a good idea, I recommend it.

Mexican Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I would have rated it a five, except that it was a bit thin, and I even made it in a 9 x 13 pan. It was so easy, the flavor was delicious and the texture was great. A bit of a cross between a brownie and cake, but I like it that way. I frosted it with the recipe for Cinnamon Coffee Frosting from this site an it was a huge hit at Thanksgiving dinner!

Apple Oatmeal Cookies II

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2007
I am trying to lay off the sweets, but wanted to make a snack for bible study that I could eat. This recipe was a great find. Very yummy...I especially like the taste of honey in it. My only complaint is that they are too delicate, which might be partly my own fault for chopping the apple too big.

Favorite Banana Blueberry Quick Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
Yum! I was going to just add some blueberries to the banana bread recipe I usually make, but am very glad I decided to branch out and try this one. I changed a few things to make it healthier (used part wheat flour and subsituted applesauce for some of the shortening), and it turned out so good. I will be making this again trying different fruit combination...I'm thinking peach chunks mixed in with the blueberries would be awesome. Oh, also, I made a triple batch and made two loaves and 12 muffins.

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2007
Really good and really easy. The only trouble I had was that when I went to take off the damp cloth after the second rising it made most of the rolls deflate. The brushing on of the egg mixture also deflated them some as well, but they puffed back up pretty well in baking. The dough was beautiful and so nice to work with. I will defenitely make these again.

Dessert Crepes

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2007
I had tried to make crepes before and they turned out awful so I wasn't sure about trying again. This recipe was SO easy and yummy. I made it in the blender as someone else suggested and also added vanilla and cinnamon. The very first crepe I cooked got broken when I tried to flip it too soon, but the rest came out beautifully. I have made them twice now - once filled with Nutella and topped with strawberries and whipped cream, and once filled with vanilla yogurt and topped with stawberries and bananas. They were a hit both times and I will surely make these again and again.

Chicken Cordon Bleu I

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2007
So good! Only part I didn't like about making this was the pounding of the chicken...but I just hate doing that messy job. I made this for a party and it got rave reviews from everyone.

Garlic Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2007
Really good! I cubed the potatoes and still had to cook them much longer than the recipe stated, but it was worth the wait. My husband doesn't like lemon, but still thought these were awesome.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
Great recipe even with my changes/mistakes. I made it with half marg. and half butter, a almost half the banana than called for, and a mixture of all-purpose, self-rising and whole wheat flour because I was short. Because of the self-rising flour I did not add any soda, but I think it needed more. I also sprinkled the top with course sugar and it made a wonderful crunchy, sparkly topping. Next time I am going to try just using real butter and white flour, and adding chocolate chips and chopped marashino cherries, and will definitely use the whole amount of banana.

Glazed Carrot Coins

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
I thought these carrots were very good. I wasn't sure about the vanilla and lemon flavors in it, but it was great. I used baby carrots instead of carrot coins and worked well. Was just what I hoped for.

Chocolate Kiss Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2006
My brother-in-law requested peanut butter pie for his birthday, and I had a hard time finding one without cream cheese in it (which he hates). I changed a few things for the recipe. I used graham cracker crust instead of a pastry crust because it was a time saver. I also switched out the kisses for Reeses Cups, and liked that a lot. As someone else suggested, I used cook-n-serve pudding instead of instant and the texture seemed just fine. It got a thumbs up from everyone and the BIL said it was just how peanut butter pie was supposed to be.
