Butter Cream Frosting I

Reviewed: May 3, 2011
THE BEST!!! I have been testing several butter cream frosting over the past several days, was reluctant to try this because of the raw eggs, but caved out of desperation. So glad I did!! The taste and texture is amazing!!! I made another batch for a detailed character drawing in which I added almond extract and much more milk - again, wonderful. You will NOT be disappointed with this frosting - I promise!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
If you want a good "OLD FASHIONED" recipe as the title states, then do not change a thing! The recipe is perfect as is - they taste just like the pancakes my grandmother made when I was growing up. If you want to tweak the recipe, fine, but you know longer have the "old fashioned"recipe that is the purpose of this particular recipe page. Having said that, these pancakes are moist and beautiful. I love them! Thanks, Dakota Kelly!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies III

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
I followed the directions exactly and these cookies really are delicious. I made these on a whim for a friend's birthday and I was pleased at how fast and easy they were to make. I know this is common sense for most people, but really keep an eye on your first batch because they will go from done to burnt very quickly. That being said, I did have to alter the time in the oven to only 8 minutes as opposed to the 10-12 minute time mentioned in the recipe. I will be making these again at Christmas time and trying some variations... rum, mint chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and butterscotch. Can't wait!

Lighter Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
I have made these many, many times and these muffins rise amazingly...so beautiful. Per other reviews, I add one extra banana, 1/4 cup skim milk, 1/2 tsp vanilla. I also add just a very slight drizzle of oil and mini-chocolate chips to half the recipe. These muffins, however, are not as moist as other reviewers claim, especially when compared to store-bought muffins or boxed recipes. They are not dry, but they are not extremely moist either. The muffins are also heavy and filling, and as another reviewer said, get tougher once cooled. Just warm them, however, if this bothers you. All in all, these are great muffins if you want a more natural and healthy one, which is why I make them all the time. They are great for snacks and for breakfast. Plus, the kiddos love 'em!

Restaurant-Style Taco Meat Seasoning

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2005
This is awesome. I tried this for my husband because I've never been fond of packaged taco seasoning. I actually used this seasoning on one pound of ground turkey, but I left the measurments of the dried seasonings as is. I reduced the amount of water to 2/3 cup. It turned out great and my husband absolutely loved it. He was even shocked to discover that I'd used turkey meat...said he couldn't tell the difference.

Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2005
I would give this ten stars if I could. I have used this marinade twice for fajitas. They turned out so tender and amazingly delicious...also very addicting since I continued to eat and eat although I was very full.

Seven Layer Dip II

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2005
This is such a wonderful dip. I was worried the taco seasoning might be a bit overpowering, but it was perfect. I serve this dip at our poker nights and everyone LOVES it! I get creative with the presentation by applying the olives and tomatoes only to certain areas. This way, picky eaters can still enjoy the dip. You can't go wrong with this!

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2005
I've had this recipe in my box for a long time, but I've been very hesitant to make them. I really thought this would be difficult to make as well as time consuming. I was so wrong. These were so easy and did not take much time at all. To top it off, they were so delicious. I will no doubt be making these on a regular basis, although I would love to learn how to bake them. Thanks for the great recipe, Sean!!!

Garlic Croutons

Reviewed: May 11, 2005
These are to die for! I didn't have french bread on hand, so I substituted plain white bread and they still tasted great. I took everyone elses advice and used 1 tbsp butter and 3 tbsp olive oil. Also, to keep from getting the burnt garlic pieces on my croutons, I simply sliced my garlic in half, and cooked them in the butter/oil mix. Before adding the bread, I took the cloves out and discarded them. This way, you get the garlic taste, but you don't have to worry about any small pieces burning. One last thing, beware if your croutons are cut in different sizes. This was my first time making them and the size of my croutons were not consistent. As a result, the smaller pieces will cook a lot faster. These turned out to be the best croutons my husband and I have ever had!

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2005
This was just okay, not a favorite though. My husband wasn't very fond of them either. I just felt like they were missing something. Next time, I'll try to spice it up a little.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2005
Yum!!! This is the first guacamole recipe I've made that I like! I didn't have fresh cilantro on hand but it was still great. Definitely beats any restaraunt recipe I've ever had. Thanks!

Pollo Fajitas

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2005
Great recipe. I used chicken breasts, though, and lime juice in place of the lemon juice. Growing up in south Texas eating lots of tex-mex, I was wary of this recipe, but it was great. I will definitely make it again.

I wasn't too fond of this recipe. It was easy enough but I felt that it was missing something. Probably will not make this again.

Never Enough Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2005
YUM! I made this for a large dinner party and it was everyone's favorite. I used the fake bacon bits, though, and it still came out wonderful (although the bacon flavor was just a bit too strong). This will become one of my regular dishes.

Baked Chicken on Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2005
I thought this recipe was great. I was looking for something simple and I got it! I did not add the mushrooms because I didn't have any on hand and I added extra onion soup mix just because I love the flavoring. It turned out wonderful...perfect! I did not cut down on milk or anything else. The consistency of the rice was perfect and the chicken was moist. This is definitely one of my favorites!
