About this Cook
Just a country gal from Kansas making her wee way in the world!
My favorite things to cook
Deserts are my favorite thing to make.. perhaps because they are my favorite thing to eat! Cookies, cakes, and bars! Mmmmmm! Also love to make yeast breads! Cheese breads, cinamon rolls, raisin bread, or just plain ol' bread! It's all good!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hmm... I don't have many traditions. I do make a lot of candy at Christmas time, and I am the one expected to bring it to the family gathering, so I suppose that is a favorite. When I was a wee thing, one tradition, when it snowed a lot, was that mom would make snow icecream! That was always so much fun!
My cooking triumphs
I dont' get alot of complaints about my cooking. I make alot of cookies for various functions at our local library and people usually look forward to that.
My cooking tragedies
*sigh* I once went on a low fat/no fat diet. I tried a recipe that was for cookies that called for an angel food cake mix and light blueberry pie filling. That was the biggest flop I have ever seen in my life. Huge mess!

Quick Beef Pizza
My husband loved this... I thought it was far to bland and too much mushroom. If I try this again, I think I will use nacho cheese soup and add some bell peppers or something... definately needed more flavor. My husband however liked it very well and was pleased that I didn't so that there was more for him.

Double Chocolate Crumble Bars
YUM! I have been making this same recipe since I was in high school (late 80's). Our home-economics teacher had us make them once and I have been addicted ever since! I still make this recipe on occasion and noone has ever complained!

Hash Brown and Egg Casserole
MMMMmmm! This is excellent! I didn't make it exactly as the recipe states, as I had no onion on hand and I had tater tots that I thawed and crumbled instead of frozen hashbrowns... but.. it is sooo tasty! Even my husband thinks it is excellent!
