About this Cook
I've cooked for years but just to get by. I love this web site for trying new recipes and seeing what other people say about them so I can modify them. Usually I avoid a lot of beef, but I'm learning to cook venison now and having fun modifying traditional recipes for my family.
My favorite things to cook
Unfortunately I really like cooking dessert...nom nom nom
My favorite family cooking traditions
I like gathering and sharing food. Any food! Well, almost.
My cooking triumphs
Anything a group of people eat quietly is a triumph, they are enjoying it and forgetting to speak. I think my spaghetti is pretty tasty.
My cooking tragedies
I made some swedish meatballs recently that were not so good. I love mac and cheese from this restaurant in Gettysburg PA. I have eaten it once and been on a search for the recipe since, so far, in vain :( I also need to learn to cook less food at once.

Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps
Cleaning these to get the veins and seeds out is essential to them not being too hot, but it's a chore and the gases will get you! We do it in a bowl of cold water with gloves on. We also use a brick of cream cheese and cut it into the right size to push into the jalapeno. I would also add some sort of alcoholic beverage for sharing, because this is a group effort. Delicious recipe you can't make enough of.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread
I love pumpkin stuff and this is really good. I make muffins out of it instead of bread and it makes a lot. The only modification I made was to use olive oil, add 1 tsp vanilla and use half brown and half white sugar but it's great as is too.

Buffalo Chicken Dip
Great recipe. Very slight modifications for me were 1/2 cup ranch and 1/2 cup blue cheese, wing sauce vice hot sauce and I reserve 1/2 cup cheese and dump the rest all together and then put it in a baking dish and top it with the remaining cheese...and then a little more. Serve with baked tortilla chips. This stuff is good and usually gone!
