I started cooking with my mom while I was still a munchkin and needed a stool to reach the counter. I love to cook, and can't decide whether I like to eat food or make food more:) I like to try new recipes all the time, and consequently have tons of scraps of paper floating around my kitchen with recipes I found off of this site.
My favorite things to cook
Cookies, quick and yeast breads, pies, cakes, and candies are all my first love to make, but I've been slowly branching out to making 'real' food. I love anything that has to do with veggies, especially squash and zucchini. I'm also a meat eating girl, and love making dishes from wild game that I always have on hand. I raise beef cows and sheep, so I like finding new recipes that use them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We always make cinnamon rolls the night before Christmas, and my mom and I fight over who gets to use the Thanksgiving turkey bones for soup:)
My cooking triumphs
I've had pretty good luck with most all of my cooking, probably because I come here and use all the highly-rated recipes. I can't think of anything that stands out as being a super fantastic triumph, but I can't think of any negative comments I've received either, so it must be ok:)
My cooking tragedies
Only one comes to mind, and it's certainly one dumb mistake:)
It was the first time I was trying to make cinnamon pudding cake, and I misread the directions (at least that's my alibi) and didn't mix the wet and dry ingredients together. Needless to say, what came out of the oven was chipped out of the dish and into the garbage.
