I made these three times over the holidays. Each time I either used butter only, butter flavored shortening only, or a combo of the two and all batches came out delicious! I split the batch in half, wrapped each ball in wax paper, then put in the freezer to harden. That way I only had to take one ball out at a time to do the rolling and cutting, and I didn't have a problem with the dough softening. Also, don't be afraid to use plenty of flour for the rolling. I was generous and my cookies still came out soft. In fact they got softer as a few days went by. I will be using this recipe for many years to come. Thanks, Delilah
