This is my go to coffee cake for guests, especially my dear mom. I've been making this for the last five years time and time and time again. Every single time I even consider making something else, I go back to this recipe. It's incredibly moist, flavorful and just plain lovely. In my opinion, it's far better as a dessert cake rather than a morning cake. It's just very, very rich for the morning. I do decrease the sugar a bit and never dust it with confectioners sugar. Other than those two tiny changes, it's amazing. Lastly, I should say that I am SUPER picky about baked goods. I am nearly always disappointed when I purchase baked goods in bakeries, even at the top bakeries in Chicago. But this cake has no flaws. At all. Make it and get fat. :-)
