Day 5 of the Smoothie Invasion (Occupation?)
Jan. 18, 2012 12:17 am
Updated: Jan. 20, 2012 2:37 pm that sounds a bit dramatic. LOL...but it's fun to write...ok? 5 has been a 'noticing' is my list that I compiled that I noticed.

  1. I am tired. Not warn out 'tired'...but 'MY BODY NEEDS rest and repair' tired.
  2. I have a LOT more MENTAL energy than I have in a while. (Which is sort of frustrating, since I have a lower physical energy right now...and LISTENING to my body and RESTING when it says has been quiet a challenge of it's own.)
  3. I really relate to my body differently. I don't know if it's because it's JUST MY TIME to GET IT, and it's just God's timing...PERFECT, or if I FINALLY gave my body nutrition and sort of jump started and reset my body/mind/food relationship...but I sure feel like I'm GETTING 'it'. It makes me so happy.
  4. I have NO GUILT...none. I am facing food and drink in a way I've NEVER done's a choice, and one made in harmony with my bodies NEEDS...not some emotional trigger, or food medicating thing. And that makes me quiet proud of myself.
  5. When I did have a 'normal' emotional trigger, (It's STILL -35 here...and I have a 7 year old boy climbing the's just not conducive to chillin' and going with the flow...), when things got a little 'sideways' as I would NORMALLY call it...I was able to step BACK and evaluate and really avoid 'emotional' eating or 'stress' eating. It was a BIG deal for me. I don't know about YOU, but that's HUGE in MY BOOK! Just keepin' it real, guys. ;)
So, day 5....healthful, mindful, wonderful eating and drinking...I think it's great. I'm digging it. ;)

As for in the we had Taco Salad....with the taco meat left over from yesterdays tacos that I made the family...(I had the left over chicken breast from the night before...and a GREEN SMOOTHIE! LOL)...dinner was good...and I didn't over eat and I was satisfied...when I got 'hungry' a while after, I sipped on my veggies...I mean, I sipped on my Green Smoothie...and drank some licorice spice and chamomile tea...without sweetener...I'm one heck of an unusually satisfied girl. L O V E it!

So very proud of you! Getting in those raw nutrients makes a big difference. Now that you are on day 5, you should be coming out of the lack of energy. It's all up hill from here!

You've inspired me- trying my first green smoothie tonight: spinach, beet, yogurt, avocado, pineapple smoothie... hoping for more energy soon! Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Karla,I have been looking into raw food diets for a while now, actually I am buying a blender this weekend,I have been looking at the Ninja, are you happy with the power of it for smoothies? I really don't want to spend the money for a vitamix or blendtec if I don't have to.......I don't know how you handle the cold we are 6 degrees and don't want to go outside, lol. My husbands daughter lives in Kenai Alaska and when we were talking on Skype a moose was at her front door looking in the window. How crazy is that :)
Jan. 20, 2012 2:37 pm, get this...the WEEK BEFORE I got drawn into this great smoothie kick, I GAVE MY VITAMIX AWAY!!! I had a Vitamix mixer, with three canisters and all...had it for three years...used it a total of maybe 10 times...I hated washing it...getting the stuff out of the mixer...BUGGED ME! I hate trying to scrape around the blades....and washing...the same. So, my Ninja...I've been LOVING IT! I've used it more in one week than I did the Vitamix BEFORE I started the smoothies. It's SOOOO easy to clean and get all my stuff out...I just love it. I think if I had to compare the two, the Ninja is my favorite...I have NOT used the Vitamix for making smoothies, so I can't give an honest comparison. But, The way I look at it...I got my Ninja at Sam's for $45...two pitcher, different sizes, and two smaller cups to blend in...and If I had to buy four of them in my lifetime, I'd still use it more than I would a Vitamix...and still spend half the price. Living in Alaska is hard, sometimes...this winter has been pretty LONG and COLD...and it doesn't help that I want to move...LOL. It is precious and beautiful here...lot's of freedom...lots of's the cold that gets me...having four kids, and homeschooling in -35 and's lame-o. Talk about stir crazy, cabin fever! LOL Be blessed... :) Let me know how it turns out for you! :)
