About this Cook
My name is Michele but all my friends call me Shell. I live in the beautiful foothills of the Smoky mountains with my 3 kids and my husband. We came here so that my hubby could retire (he was a special agent) but somewhere along the line he decided to go back to work and is currently a police officer with the Knoxville PD. I just finished writing my second book "Protecting Those you Love in an X-Rated World" (Bridge Logos) which is due out in Jully 07. Having been brought up in NY and then lived in South FL my whole life, I am in heaven here in the mountains! I also operate a web ministry
My favorite things to cook
Italian!! I come from a long line of Italian cooks and even owned and operated my own restaurant for a while. I still cook my family's 200 year old sauce recipe every Sunday! I love to bake and being in the country leaves us few restaurant options so I love to try and duplicate restaurant recipes for my family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'd have to say that my families homemade Italian sausage recipe is a favorite and I sell it by the pound to old restaurant customers, church friends and friends around the US. Next is chicken parm and then lasagne.
My cooking triumphs
A multi-course Japanese Hibachi style dinner in my own kitchen!! Complete with dipping sauces and appetizers! The kids loved it!
My cooking tragedies
All of my friends are tried and true Southern cooks. I am still trying to master the "greens" and chicken and dumplins' - I got pintos, cornbread and soup beans ALMOST down!! LOL!! Who woulda known that southern cornbread "ain't yellow and it ain't sweet" LOL

Classic Caramel Corn
OMG! This recipe is OUTSTANDING!!! I used light corn syrup and followed the directions exactly. I used a little over 1/3 cup of un-popped popcorn kernels and popped in a pot on the stove with a little oil. This is better than anything you will EVER buy in a box... my advice is to keep the recipe handy, you'll be making it often!!!

Sweet Dinner Rolls
I made this recipe kind of last minute and it turned out WONDERFUL! I am making them for our Christmas Eve feast tonight! I used the directions K Praper listed in her review using my Kitchen Aid as I didn't feel like digging out my bread machine. The rolls are fluffy and moist with just the right amount of sweetness. they remind me of Parker House rolls. DE-LIC-OUS!!

Dennie's Fresh Lobster Salad
My husband is a police officer and very often doesn't get to take time out to eat, I wanted to make him something really special so I made this recipe after finding 4 lobster tails marked down and my local grocery. IT WAS OUTSTANDING! I didn't change a thing I loaded the salad onto a nice crusty roll and added plenty of napkins. He LOVED it!!
