Original Chex® Party Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
This is just ok, something to munch on if desperate. I even doubled the dry ingredients. Not sure why it got such great reviews but I probably won't use this recipe again.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
I have made these 3 times and they have turned out perfectly each time. Instead of using the buffalo sauce, we do lemon pepper since it's our households favorite. Crispy and delicious just like our favorite wing place!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
This recipe was so delicious...and I even messed it up. I decided to change the raisins to blueberries and bought some frozen blueberries. I didn't thing to thaw them before I made it so at first it wouldn't stick together. I waited until they start thawing and tried to roll it out to cut into triangles but the juice from the blueberries made it too sticky. I ended up just making it into flat balls and baking it that way. I had to bake them a little longer but they turned out just like muffin tops. The flavor was the best!

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
This was delicious! I used southwestern style hash browns (in the refrigerated section) to add some kick. This only took 30 minutes to cook for me, I did, however, change a couple things. I did use the refrigerated potatoes instead of frozen. Also, once I pressed the potatoes/butter in the pan, I put it in the oven while I finished browning the sausage and mixing together the egg mixture. The cottage cheese I bought for this recipe was spoiled so I just left it out and added a little more cheese. Added fresh spinach to egg mixture for some yummy super food. It was great!

Roasted Chicken with Risotto and Caramelized Onions

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
This was much better than I thought it was going to be. Such simple ingredients come together so nicely! I think the balsamic vinegar makes the dish. I baked a whole chicken and used about half of it and it was plenty of chicken.

Strawberry/Rhubarb Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
This recipe was yummy. I even used frozen strawberries and rhubarb and it was still delicious. The crumbs turned out perfectly and the fruit filling was a nice texture when cooled (not soupy).

This was just ok. It is an easy, quick dinner but nothing special as far as taste goes.

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
I love how healthy this recipe is. I gave it a 4 because the recipe does need made with chicken stock and must have cumin in it- otherwise it is a little bland. Great, easy recipe overall though.

Potato Casserole III

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
This recipe was yummy! I even accidentally bought potato rounds instead of the hash browns and it was great. I am giving it a 4 because I didn't need to cook it nearly as long as the recipe said. I cooked it for 1 hour and it was heated through nicely.

Southern Grits Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
This was very good. I threw it all in the crockpot once combined and it turned out great. Made it again 2 weeks later and added crumbled bacon. I think that was better than the sausage.

This was a huge hit. Made it for a Mystery Dinner Theatre we hosted at our home for 20 or so people and everyone loved it! It is beautiful and makes a great presentation. It's so simple too, there's really no way you can mess it up.

Cheesy Pizza Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2006
We have a house FULL of 18+ teenage and young adult men in the house annually for my husband's Madden Tournament. This is a regular request from them and they ask me to make it all year long leading up to it. This year I doubled it and put it in the crock pot. Stirred it every 30 mins or so for about 4 hours. They all think I'm the most wonderful cook. Little do they know it's so easy they could make it themselves. I'll just keep that little secret to myself. It keeps them well behaved. ;)

Avocado Feta Salsa

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2006
This was great! I used tomato basil feta cheese since that's what I had and it turned out fabulous. With the basil it tasted more italian than mexican and would be great as an appetizer when serving italian food. That's what I plan on doing this weekend for a gathering we're having.

Arangini (Italian Rice Balls)

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2005
This recipe tasted great! I did however have problems getting the balls to stick together. I would imagine that it was because I made the rice the day before and refridgerated it overnight. I also used some Hickory smoked honey ham instead of prosciutto and it was great. Very different. Served it for a large group and everyone loved it.
