Followed exactly, turned out great. I am serving a Guinness Beef Stew over the top of the colcannon with a side of Irish Soda Bread. I KNOW this will be a new St. Paddy's Day hit for our household :)

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

I made a double batch of this recipe to bake in 2 separate 8" pans. Before pouring into the pans, I tasted the batter and this is definitely a SWEET cornbread! I made a 3rd batch, omitting the sugar altogether, to stir into the double batch of batter I made. This, of course, cut down the sweetness. I divided the batter up into 3 pans, baked as directed & the bread came out moist with a crisp crust. I will use this recipe again, but will only use 1/4 cup to only 2 Tbls of sugar....just a personal preference.

100% Whole Wheat Pancakes

Good & easy. I added more buttermilk to "thin" the batter a bit; personal preference. Served these with real maple syrup & strawberry/blueberry sauce.

Vern's Rhubarb Custard Torte

My Changes: Used 1/2 cup powdered sugar for crust; Added 1 tsp. vanilla to filling; Used 1 cup powdered sugar for cream cheese frosting & whipped 1 cup Heavy whipping cream to fold into cream cheese mixture instead of cool whip (I don't like cool whip)

V's Lemon Bars

I read a few reviews before making these. The "bad" reviews made me a bit hesitant to make them, but I did anyway! Here's what I did: * White Whole Wheat Flour in place of white * zested the 2 large lemons & split the amount between the crust & filling (yum) Otherwise, I followed the recipe as written. I got compliments on this batch I shared at work...

How to Make Country Gravy

THIS is exactly what I was looking for! There is a dive bar down the road from my home that serves the BEST biscuits & gravy for $4.00 a plate & this comes close to that :) The only way it could be better is if I was having this made & served for me with a Bloody Mary to wash it down....yup, I'm from Wisconsin!

I've used this recipe a few times now. I use BOURBON in place of the water; but only 1/8 cup, 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice with the apples( I like Macintosh) . I double the topping using mostly old fashioned oats& add 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice to that also.

Skillet Pork Chops with Potatoes and Onion

Followed recipe exactly. Not sure what I did wrong, but after cooking, the potatoes were mush. So, I mashed them all the way! Made an interesting mashed potato. Pork tasted good.
