Kellogg's® Chocolate Scotcheroos

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
I made this recipe for a bake sale, and everyone loved them. I felt there was too much butterscotch in the recipe, but not being a fan of it normally, it was probably my own personal preference. I would recommend splitting this in to two pans as it makes quite thick bars even in a 10x13.

Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2014
This was definitely good - I never realized before exactly what gave Spanish rice the flavoring and color! Thank you for the recipe.

German Chocolate Cake Frosting II

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2013
This turned out perfect without any additional ingredients (i.e. cornstarch). You have to simmer, stirring constantly, until everything is combined and smooth. At that point (roughly 5 minutes), turn the heat up until you get a hard boil. You will want to make sure you are stirring because the egg could still scramble. I advise boiling until you see the mixture change texture - it's hard to explain but once you see it, you'll know. Very similiar to candy making which is essentially what you are doing here (I won't bore you with all the science-y stuff), but trust me, if you boil it hard you will not need the cornstarch. Mine changed after about 9 minutes of constant boiling but it all depends on temperatures. I'd also advise unsweetened coconut be used as it can be a touch too saccharine with the sweetened.

Stuffed Artichokes

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2014
This was a great base for a stuffing - I did add more garlic but everything else was the same. I cooked as directed in a cast enamel pot and didn't have issues with them! The stuffing was so delicious and the artichokes were very tender - thank you!

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
I've never made tortillas before but have wanted to try my hand. I hate that the ones in the store are so overprocessed and getting to be expensive. I must say - these were a hit! I cut the recipe in half (just in case) and my husband, as well as myself, demolished these pretty quickly. I'll be making these again and again! Thank you!

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
I made this to top another recipe on the site (cream-filled cupcakes), and it was delicious! I love the fact it sets up quickly, but doesn't get hard/crunchy even after sitting for a night. I actually tripled the recipe and topped cupcakes, biscotti, and cookies with it. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a delicious glaze to go on nearly anything! A nice suggestion would be to add liquor or flavoring (orange, anise, or cherry) for just a hint of something extra.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
This turned out quite delicious, but I did follow the tips of other members by mixing the caramel mixture with the apples instead of pouring over crust. I mound the apples and slowly pour the mixture, still hot, over the apples and let it spread on it's own. I do reserve a little to brush on my crust (along with an egg/milk wash, sugar sprinkle) and people seem to love it. I am not an apple pie fan but even I had a small piece. Great recipe. Thank you.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2013
It's not unheard of for me to bake fresh bread multiple times a week. I love bread. I have my standard recipes and I do not deviate much. I must say in this case though - I'm glad I did. I halved it because I was wary but it was so good! My husband and I used it for sandwich bread and toast for a week or so after! Will definitely make again, thank you.

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
The first time I made these, I had to substitute peanut butter chips because I didn't think to check for all ingredients BEFORE starting! :)) In spite of that, these turned out amazing. Everyone in my husband's office devoured them and requested more. I made them as written, with ALL ingredients, a few more times to rave reviews. At Christmas, all of these disappeared before I even took them out of the pan (literally - my husband and another swiped them and ran away, haha). :)

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2012
I absolutely hate cinnamon (scent, taste, etc.) and made these instead for my husband. Mind you, I've never made cinnamon rolls before and these came out delicious and tender! Shockingly, I tried one and hell hath frozen over - I liked it! I didn't make the frosting with the last batch, but they really don't need it. :)

Best Steak Marinade in Existence

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
I wanted to try something different and I was not disappointed! I think the lemon juice definitely added something that would have been otherwise absent. I didn't have hot pepper sauce nor white pepper, so I substituted regular coarse ground pepper as well as a touch of ginger. Wow. Great recipe!

No Bake Cookies V

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2005
I lost my recipe and decided to look on here for another...this one is great! It was too thin after all was done, so I added another 1/4 c. peanut butter, and 1 c. oats...wow! Delish! Everyone at work loved them.

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2013
I thought my husband was crazy when he asked me to make this cake - soaked in three milks? Huh? Alas, I found this recipe and he liked it. I toned down the sugar and milk a touch but other than that, he said it was great. Also advise to watch the cake because it browns very quickly.

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
I used this recipe for Christmas sugar cookies and everyone seemed to love them. I'm not much of a cookie fan, honestly, but these had a delicious butter taste on the tongue. I used this as a cookie cutter recipe and I should have rolled thicker. Next time, drop cookies! :) Thank you!

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2012
This ended up being delicious and not too strong on the mayo taste (as a lot of restaurants tend to be), but I found it too dry in texture. I didn't overbake and I just do not think it was creamy/dip-like enough. Next time, I'll try a touch more milk, but regardless, I will be making again! :)

Stephanie's Freezer Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2012
I made this yesterday and it was good. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because I really was not a fan of the texture. I usually like marinara sauce to be on the chunky side, but this was just...strange. I took a little and put it in the food processor and even that didn't seem to help. It had a great taste though and once I figure out how to alter texture, I'll be making again! Thank you! :)

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
I made these to top some sugar cookies and I loved how the icing hardened. I felt the taste could have been improved but the fact I finally found a sugar cookie icing that hardens yet stays pliable means this will be used again! Thank you.

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2012
These were great as far as texture but the dough as mixed was too sticky. I added just under 1/4c. of flour and it was all right. These aren't as peanut buttery as I would have liked, but considering my daycare kids devoured them, I can't help but like them! :)

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2014
This was good but it still feels like something is missing! I don't know if my taste buds are so trained to the fake, processed stuff in the packages but I just felt this was lacking. What was there is definitely tasty but missing that signature "taco" seasoning flavor.
